Yep. This is exactly what happens to hitters when you suddenly and radically change the strike zone. It's totally unfair.

Our hitters look totally lost now and it's because they don't know from one pitch to the next what will be called a strike and what won't.

MLB protects the umps the same way all the leagues generally protects their referees pretty much at any cost.

As long as Martin is matching him inning for inning I'm ok with it. If we limit Houston to 2 runs the rest of the game I think we'll somehow someway this a win out of our ass.

If I'm not mistaken, Keuchel threw his 50th pitch before there was an out in the 3rd inning. Yet, here he is headed into the 7th at a 105 pitch count and a one run lead.

Should have buried him when we had him in our sights early on.
