Self-proclaimed Asshole
De shields hitting too many fly balls still.
I'm not going to argue with you here. The box score reads 1 error on Andrus, 0 Earned Runs Perez.Wrong. Errors happen. Perez handled it poorly and walked a hitter and grooved fastballs to two more. A big league pitcher doesn't let that get out of control. This inning is on Perez.

Blaming a player for not picking up his teammate all while excusing the teammate's initial error is just wrong.
Without the Elvis error, the score reads Texas 1, Houston 0.
Huge momentum changeHe's gonna get in a groove if we give him another inning like that. DeShields is really getting away from what made him so good lately. Not working pitchers as much, and hitting too many fly balls compared to line drives and ground balls.
I never said Perez was without blame. He did do his initial job. He failed to do his job after the error and after he got rattled. So yes he does deserve blame.I don't care whether you agree or not. Perez's job didn't end because Elvis made an error. Just like my job doesn't end because someone else dropped the ball. He did not do his job. Period.

But you've got a mentally fragile starter on the mound in a crucial playoff race game. As a fielder, it is your job to be rock solid on defense behind that pitcher and not give him any reason to fall apart. You can't botch a simple ground ball. You just cant. Even not considering the pitcher, giving the Astros another chance to hit a home run in their bandbox ballpark is something you can't do.
Fair enough. That's how your initial post came off, at least to me. And when someone else says that criticizing Elvis is worthless, that's how it comes off.Easy there, big guy. Nobody is absolving Elvis of any blame.

It's over and done with anyway. We now have a bigger problem with this dogshit umpire suddenly increasing his strike zone to ridiculous levels.
