Angels place Aybar and Vargas on waivers. Cardinals has already contacted Angels about Aybar. His contract is 8.5 million thru 2016 according to Bleachers.

Good get him out of the AL West. With Pujols out of the lineup, no Callaspo to face when we play the Angels and if Aybar goes, the only one in the LAA lineup we have to worry about is Trout and maybe Ianetta.

... but he still wasn't ejected from the game. I would still appeal the suspension ... and MLB determination better not come back with a decision on my suspension before the one on Rodriguez.

With the suspension ... MLB is attempting to forestall anyone else throwing at Rodriguez going forward.

By the way on a somewhat related note ... if Rodriguez is suspended ... he loses his NYY salary but did you know that TEX still owes him $40mil deferred salary for his time in TEX ... and when it is programmed for payment the amount will have grown to $50mil?

Vargas was just activated ... and his two starts didn't go well. Aybar has always played well against TEX ... and is contracted through 2016 ... so STL would be very interested him solving their SS problem with a very crafty very tough SS.

... except I believe at the time he used performance enhancing drugs while playing for TEX it may not have been illegal. At least that is what I have heard his attorney say.

What I do know is that any hope by McGwire, Bonds, or the other guys nailed for using PEDs of getting into the HOF has been pretty much shot by how Rodriguez has played this suspension.

Is Blackley on a limited pitch count tonight? I thought I saw somewhere he was going to throw about 70.

Do any of you think the Rangers will knock this Houston pitcher around tonight? It seems like he is due for a bad game. I am not sure how hot it is in Texas tonight but that might be a factor in his effectiveness.

I'm curious as to why the decision was made to start Blackley versus Wolf. I understand that Wolf will most likely be relieving Blackley anyway, but hasn't he earned the start? - he's been reasonably effective when called upon this year.

Probably did not think Blackley would be effective to back up Wolfe.
