I'm stunned. Really thought Boras was using them (as is his norm) to drive up the price on Anaheim.

More than twice what they paid Sabathia 11 years ago.

I'm guessing Cole wanted to play where he could win now......and of course get insane money......

You're gonna love him. Terrific defensive SS, and beloved in the locker room.

Old Joey G is getting the band back together.

A number of Phillies underperformed last season.
There were talks of a suspect clubhouse culture with Kapler, so this move makes a lot of sense on a few levels.

The most significant might be his value in the clubhouse.
But, yeah, I hope he can give us near GG defense and 20-25 HR.

Was reading somewhere this morning that CBP surrendered the most HR to lefty hitters in 2019. Didi pulls all his HR, so that park should play very well for him.

.429 career SLG
.444 SLG at Yankees Field.

His splits are kind of balanced, so yeah, I think this bodes well for him.
Of course, Yankees lineup might be a tad more advantageous than the Phils...

Yanks were overly right handed even with Didi. With Gardner still unsigned, they now have zero left handed hitters in their everyday line-up. Long way to opening day, but if this stays the same, will definitely be a first in Yankee history.

Yeah, that's why I would rather they went after Hamels than Wheeler. They keep loading their starting rotation with guys that profile worse against lefties. So part of the reason they surrendered the most hrs is because they had a right handed heavy rotation but you can tell just by watching that the ball really does carry to right field regardless.

You would think they would look at that kind of stuff. If they looked at Arrieta's splits before they signed him it should have at least made them pause, because he has been hit harder by lefties his whole career. And I have the same concern about Wheeler. At least get one lefty to mix it up. Otherwise the Conforto's and Joc Pederson's of the world are going to come in for a series facing a bunch of guys that give up power to lefties and have a field day.

On a positive note, Nola is a legitimate ace. So that's something. The rest of them are just slightly different versions of the same pitcher.

Similar to my rant about the Phillies, that doesn't seem optimal for the Yankees. Someone like Stanton probably crushes left handed pitchers but if they have an entire lineup of right handed hitters how often is he going to get the chance?
