What is even worse the Marlins have 33 million tied up with no intentions of lowering.

The Pirates are at 41 million with all intentions to dump Archer and Polanco.
When the time comes and both are gone they will have a payroll at 25 million which will be less than the top 20 salaries in the league. :L

MLB 2020 Payroll Tracker

That Archer trade was pretty bad.

I remember in the early 2000’s when the Marlins had a 14 million dollar payroll

Looks like the Pirates are aiming to be among the league's worst teams next year. I remember when I first got into baseball in the early 90's how good they were. Shame to see their falling off.

Even then it was short-lived, the owners then had no intention of paying Bonilla, Bonds or Drabek.
Sadly you have to go back to the 70's for any real success. IE...1979 was the last year they won a playoff series.

Kris Bryant has lost his service time grievance against the Cubs, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Bryant's side made the claim that the Cubs intentionally held him in the minor leagues in the early part of his 2015 rookie season in order to accrue an extra year of club control. And while that very well might be true, the case always looked to be an uphill battle for the star third baseman considering the precedent it would set and the way similar situations have been handled under the current collective bargaining agreement. With this ruling, Bryant remains on track for free agency after the 2021 season, rather than after 2020. He should be much more attractive to teams attempting to trade for him now that the issue has been settled.

Scott Kazmir Launches Comeback Attempt

Crazy to think he's only 36. I thought he was toast after 2010/11, but he was able to mount a nice comeback in Cleveland put together a few pretty solid years before falling apart in LA. Hope he can get another shot.

Speaking of the Pirates....Just look at the "prospects" they got for Marte vs what the Red Sox got from the Twins receiving Maeda. Pretty sad state of affairs in Pittsburgh with no hope.

Dodgers extended Muncy to a 3 yr/$26MM deal. He's hit .256/.381/.545 with 70 home runs and 9.9 WAR while playing a lot of 1st/2nd/3rd base over the last two years. Even if he hits in line with his pessimistic Steamer projection, that's a huge bargain.

Yeah, he's solid. That seems like a bargain.

Muncy's one of my favorite players in the league, good keep there by the Dodgers.

Holt's a very fun player to watch, enjoy him. He can play every position but C/P. His defense and baserunning aren't as good as they were a few years ago but he's been a pretty decent hitter (.286/.366/.407, 105 OPS+ over last 2 years).

I agree he is a great compliment for any teams roster that is competing. Brewers won't be disappointed.
