Started putting together my Vikes Cheat Sheet. Decided to start out by focusing on our position of strength. Offensive line!!! LOL What I found is that in all the years I have been putting this together I have never seen this many quality offensive lineman. Perfect year to take 3 or 4 but .... you know the Vikes. What's fricken weird is there is a huge hole in RD 3 so unless one of the round 2 linemen fall to us in 3 I think that will be the round we go for another position. =SA=

Nice to see you back, @=SA= , always look forward to your draft analysis. I'm so tired of watching shitty OL play, it wouldn't bother me to see them draft an O lineman in every round. They might actually get one or two good ones.

Yep, it's that time of year! I'm hoping for Dillard in the first and moving our left tackle to guard but based on the zone blocking scheme's I wish we could trade down, with maybe Oakland and move up in the second because the two best interior linemen that would fit our scheme are Bradbury and Lindstrom. Wish we could get them both as they are very athletic linemen. And then maybe a Tytus Howard as a developmental OT in the third. That would set us up for the next 4 years ..

From what I've been reading, it doesn't sound like Bradbury will be there in the second.

He could but not at pick #50. He was the most impressive OLineman I watched at the combine but centers usually don't get picked that high. I don't trust Zimmer when it comes to the draft. He's very selfish and likes his defensive guys. That said, the braintrust knows we have overlooked the O Line so there will be pushback. If Zimmer could just realize that at this stage the best thing he can do for the defense is to have an offense that can control the clock and score.

If we take O Line in the first however I do not think we will take another in the second. The draft is deep enough to get a good one in the third and maybe even the fourth. I'd like to see:

O Line in the first .. Best available whether tackle guard of center
Best available in the second even if it's oline
O Line in the third if we don't take one in the first and second
running back in the fourth
Safety in the 6th as this is a very deep draft in safeties.

You're delusional if you think that's a realistic wish list, push back by management against Zimmer's obsession with defense or not. Remember, Spielman neglected the O-line long before Zimmer was even hired.

I am extremely skeptical of the notion that they might draft O-line in the 1st. They will probably go defense, maybe WR unless the guys they want the most are gone and their favorite O-lineman is still on the board when they pick. That's just the way the Spielman/Zimmer regime works. No chance in hell they spend 2 of their top 3 picks on O-line unless it's the 2nd and 3rd and O-line guys they're drooling over happen to be there while they feel other positions are getting dried up.

The rest, sure.

Yes, that may be wishful thinking when it comes to Spielman. But I have one more scenario I would love to see happen. As you know Spielman likes to have 10 picks in a draft and is not opposed to trading down to get them. It's possible there are up to 10 O Linemen in this draft that are worthy of a first round pick, late first round pick or very high second round pick. I could see there being enough O Linemen left at 18 that Spielman could entertain an offer to trade down and stock up on picks while still getting someone like a Bradbury or Lindstrom.

I'm with you, man. I just wish Spielman would quit playing games with trading down. The only time it ever makes sense is if it's just by a few picks and "their guy" is almost certain to still be there by the slightly later pick whilst cashing in on an extra lower round pick or two. Trading back like half a round or more is just stupid unless a team is willing to give up significantly more than the higher pick is valued at by grade.

Keep hearing about trading Trae Waynes. Out of curiosity, Trae packaged with the #50 pick, how far up could the Vikes move up in the draft...early second round?

Never thought of it that way. However to answer you question, I hear Indy might be a good home for Trae so:

1) If Indy valued Trae as the 60th pick in the draft it would be enough to move up to Indy's 1st round pick at #26 ..

2) If Indy valued Trae at pick #86 it would be enough to move up to Indy's pick number #34 ..

3) Or, if they valued him at #59 they could get Indy's #59 pick without adding another pick ..

I can understand trading Trae if we have no plans to re sign him next year or to open up 9 million of salary cap, but, only if you think Hill can come back from his suspension and not get in trouble again and if they are confident Hughes will recover from his knee surgery. That would give them no depth in the event one of our top 3 corners went down with an injury and if they trade with Indy, they would probably use a second round pick to take a cornerback for the future ..

I see that pro football focus had the safety we signed from the AAF graded out at 93.7 and the best player in the league. Sounds like a good backup replacement for Sendejo ..

Hmmm...who's the best OL in the draft...would pick 18 and 26 be enough to move up to get him, or could you end up with Bradbury and Dillard?

There are 9 O Linemen worthy of going through Indy's pick number 34. TB, Jax, Buff, NYG are candidates to take O Linemen before we pick leaving us number 5 .. Houston is going to take one at #23 .. A couple more could come off the board by pick #34 leaving one .. There are 4 second tier linemen that means there will probably be one left at #50 if we still have the pick. And then there are a lot of third tier linemen that will probably start in the NFL at some point. But knowing Minnesota they will most likely only take 1 linemen through the second round and another in the third or fourth round .. I hear today is the day teams start going through every player and start stacking their board :)

San Francisco auctioned off two tickets to be able to sit in their draft room during the draft. They went for $22,000. My brother in law said he would bid on tickets if Minnesota ever did the same. Can you imagine sitting in the war room during the draft. That's probably number one on my bucket list. I bet they take your phone away at the door and strip search you. LOL .. Fine with me!!!

Chance to become NFL starter

NFL.com ranks players in their combine coverage. There are 25 O Linemen that rank above 5.50 .. I've never seen anything like this before. Hope the Vikings are aggressive in this area ..
