Jeanty should definitely win, he’s the best player and he’s the reason Boise is in the playoff. If he doesn’t win it and Hunter does it will expose the Heisman as a joke and all about flash and style and popularity and not about who the best player is. It’s between Jeanty and Hunter, I think it’s a toss up as to who wins but Jeanty definitely should.

Hunter wins it. That’s total bullshit, Jeanty was robbed, Hunter just got it because he’s a flashier player who gets more media attention. This is the first time I’ve felt like the Heisman wasn’t given to the right guy in a while, but it exposes the award as a popularity contest and nothing more - it wasn’t given to the best player, it was given to the most popular player. Travesty.

Really?

They simply need to rename the award as the Most Hyped Offensive Player Adored by the Media.

Has been this way since I've been alive. It has NEVER been about awarding the actual best player in college football.

Until an offensive lineman or a defensive tackle wins the award, that is all it will ever be.

I hear what you’re saying about it always going to an offensive star player that’s hyped up, but this was a blatant robbery, worst robbery in the history of the Heisman probably - Jeanty got Boise St to the playoff. Hunter is definitely a great player but this was all about flash and style over substance. And I think Deion being his coach played a role, the media can’t get enough of him and the media attention for him helped Hunter. If Jeanty played for a Power 4 school he would’ve had a better chance at winning it I think, but this exposes the Heisman as style over substance.

I'm obviously biased, but Ndamukong Suh not winning in 2009 was a joke.

Mark Ingram won and wasn't even the 7th best player on his own team.

Suh was a beast in college, I remember how dominant he was. But yeah it’s very unlikely a defensive player wins it, unless they’re a 2 way player like Hunter.

You aren't seriously surprised, are you? Hunter excelled as a 2-way player for the majority of the season. That's always going to be a shoo-in for the Heisman, if they're not voting for a QB. Jeanty never had a chance, despite his dominance

I'm embarrassed that OP left the poll open past the results being announced. I just voted. I'm 100% correct in these types of things.

What a joke that Hunter won. His production while playing both sides of the ball is historic but he isn’t a top 15 WR or CB unlike Woodson who was a gimmick WR but was the best defensive player and returner in the nation. Maybe if Hunter played one position he would be but he didn’t. Jeanty is the best RB, on a playoff team, dominated the number 1 team in the nation. If someone is honest Hunter production wasn’t really a Big 12 all conference player at either position.

I feel bad for Jeanty but this is just one of those random seasons in which he had to go against a guy like Hunter whose athleticism is off the charts and is pretty much dominating on both sides of the ball. We’ve never seen a player like him before and I’m seeing a lot of mock drafts with him going #1. In most seasons Jeanty would have been the runaway winner but at the end of the day I think the right guy won. Congrats to Hunter. I’m happy for the kid. He deserves it and I nearly lost my chit when he started rapping 6 foot, 7 foot to Wayne during his acceptance speech.
