Free agent Danny Granger has agreed to a two-year, $4.2 million deal with the Miami Heat, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Granger will take the bi-annual exception with Miami, and hold a players option on the second season, source tells Yahoo.

Solid role players but really nothing spectacular. With money being spent, who are the starting PG & C if the big 3 all come back?

The heat are far from done. This was to be expected.

Does Granger add anything? A guess a role player to some extent.

Didn't McBob crack Lebron pretty hard during the playoffs?

I think it's a bit much for him, but about right with what others are getting so far.

Yeah but I read from a Heat beat writer that Pat told Lebron he was going after McBob so I guess LBJ had no issue with it.

The Heat didn't have any choice. Charlotte offered him the same money so they had to at least match it. He is a young guy so most likely he would've stayed in Charlotte if they gave him more money than Miami

Yes, now LoneGranger can root for Miami.

I'm only liking these signings if LBJ returns. If not I will be hella pissed off because we could've gotten higher quality players such as Ariza/Deng & Gasol

I like what McRoberts brings to the table. He's athletic, can rebound some, and is versatile enough to hit a long two or three.

I would've preferred Spencer Hawes and at the same price that would've been a much better signing, but McRoberts isn't too bad.

Granger is a low risk medium reward type of signing. Highly doubt he'll ever return to his 20 + ppg scoring, but he can be a solid bench player and provide some toughness.

Next step I think Miami should go after Jordan Hill and Anthony Morrow if we can't get Ariza/Deng or Gasol.

These are sexy signings, but they are role players that fill a need and I think it should be enough to sway the big 3 (mostly Lebron) to commit to Miami

I think ALL of you are missing something here.

NOBODY will get signed that LEBRON didn't OK in the first place. They didn't just go out and grab these guys without his blessing. There is a plan in place here.

After all this time, over-paying for role players does not = that they think Lebron or the big 3 are coming back.

Saw some stuff on twitter that McBobs signed to the full MLE. Is that true? If it is, that means Miami is operating over the salary cap...which means the Big 3 are likely all coming back and for salaries that will put the team over the cap once signed.

Just trying to clear up confusion on my part. Because all the talk is the Big 3 opted out to make room for other players. That's not the case if McBobs has a MLE (and Granger with the Bi-Annual). There seems to be some CBA acrobatics going on that are being underreported

That means the team is hard capped at $81 mil after using the MLE. Which is $4 mil above the tax line. They can't go any higher per the CBA since they used the MLE. The Big 3 alone are around $60 mil in cap space. $21 mil isn't much room fill out the remaining 10 roster spots. And if you include the players signed or already on the roster, that leaves about $9 mil for 6 roster spots.

Of coarse my numbers might be off by a million or two, but it gives you a general idea of what Miami has to work with.
