If you have the game recorded it happened with 8 mins left. One of the refs chest bumped Blount and started pushing him backwards and getting into his face.

wait a minute? A player can't touch an official (I completely understand and agree with that) BUT an official can push a player?

One of the games this weekend, I can't remember which but might have been the Colts game, one of the refs looked to be joking around with one of the players and actually turned around and punched him. Looked like the ref had a smile on his face when he did it, but still made me say "WTF".

Yes and I have no issues with that, and IMO OP is making a mountain out of a molehill. An official can and should go hands on if he is trying to prevent an altercation. When you look at the gif it appears things were already getting chippy IMO the official was attempting to prevent it from flaring up even more.

I tickles me how fickle fans can be. A lot of fans piss and moan about all the rule changed geared toward player safety, they complain that it's gonna pussify the game, then they want to complain about a ref controlling a player. Oyyyyyy

That ref kept jawing after that gif ran out and IMO he thinks he's part of the show or he's listening to his press clippings. He's the one that escalated the situation and if Blount reacted with similar "reasonable force" in the heat of battle, he would have gotten penalized, ejected, fined and suspended. THAT WOULD BE A MOUNTAIN of a problem caused by a molehill ref and the league would have backed up the official. There should be no place in the game for moron refs who try to push players around and that's what he did. He's not supposed to be the story...end of story.
