Your own Michigan blog said the kid didn't get definitive answer until 2 weeks before the story broke. The kid was a commit for years. He committed to Michigan. Harbaugh waited almost a full year to pull the scholarship. I don't remember seeing Urban or Saban doing that. He can pretend this is common practice, but I cant remember many situations like this.
They bounce people all the time when they oversign. Both Saban and Meyer have done it countless times...

I don't think you understand.. they didn't come right out and tell him they were pulling the offer because they wanted him to walk away on his own to avoid exactly what happened... They talked to him the first week of January and told him to take official visits... that may not be direct to some.. but if anyone with a brain got that call they would have taken the hint.

They waited until Jan. That is really bad. Like I said if Harbaugh didn't want the kid man up an tell him. Don't wait until the month before signing date to grow a pair

According to a New York Times report, Meyer’s 2008 Florida Gators team that won the BCS national championship is in rarified air when it comes to being jailed. There were 121 players listed on the roster of that year’s squad, according to the report, and 41 of those players were arrested either during their tenure as a UF student or after graduating.

Comparing pulling an offer to what Meyer does is a little off.

People can cry about his as much as they want.... but like I said.. recruits flip and change schools signing day all the time not giving the program the chance to offer someone else... they gave him a month... that is more than enough time to find a school.

why is it bad? seriously? how long does it take to go on 5 official visits? The kid will be fine... Quit acting like it takes months to figure out what school you are going to attend... This kid has plenty of time to land on his feet.

I have seen gray shirts and medical shirts, but it is very rare to see a committed kid get his scholarship pulled 1 month prior to signing date. I don't like the medical and grey shirts, but even those stories are rare. This is obviously worse

grey shits and medicals are WORSE... giving him a month to figure it out is way better than making him grey shirt last minute.

The Elliot Porter/LSU situation is 10 times worse.

How about showing up on campus in August, and the coach telling you that you no longer have a scholarship but are gonna need to grayshirt?

Elliot Porter learns tough lesson in college football

Oddly enough, guy still ended up at LSU after this debacle after spending a year at Kentucky and then transferring back to LSU. Kentucky basically acted as a JUCO for LSU. :pound:

signing day comes and a kid that thinks he is getting a scholarship is shifted to grey shirt because of oversigning... without the chance to go to another school... and you think giving a kid a month is bad? lol

What is the proper time to make the biggest decision of a kids life?

So, someone claims something as an insider and everyone runs with it as the truth?

seriously... if you can't take 5 visits and figure out what you want to do in a month... you are a retard... which is probably why harbaugh didn't want him.

I don't believe that. If it was OSU or MSU I could see Michigan fans being unreasonable about it. Maybe even if it was Alabama because Alabama is on top, comes with the territory. But I wouldn't think Michigan fans would be bitching about, say, Oklahoma State or Miami doing this. Same time if OK State or Miami did this it wouldn't be getting as much press.

You say you don't believe it and then you turn around and say it's right.

:wtf:

Neither does Ohio State. Meyer has been a disciplinarian at Ohio State.

A few arrests? Clark was a convicted felon and got 1 game. Carlos Hyde got 3 games for being accused of hitting a girl because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time even though the video exonerated him.

Lewan threatened to r*pe a girl who was already a r*pe victim and they didn't even put his name in the police report. The police just told him he was a bad boy and not to do it again.

Gibbons raped a girl and was eventually (ok 4 years later) kicked out of school with 2 games left in his eligibility.

This is not small stuff.

Like I said, glass houses.

I bet Harbaugh cut him because he wasn't able to use commas properly in a sentence and didn't know how to use paragraphs.

there are going to be at least 20 kids that flip their school of choice in the next 2 weeks... and you are telling me that a kid can't take some visits to schools and pick? I can PROMISE you that if this kid is good he would have a spot on any roster that he wants.

That is brutal, but proves my pt. That is a situation from 2010. If this was a common practice there would 50+ similar stories to Swenson this year. There is not, that is why it is a major story
