Of course they will allow it. Football is a cash cow for these conferences. That is why they turn a blind eye when coaches and players bend rules. It is why Saban and the rest of the SEC started crying because it was loophole they couldn't exploit, while someone else could.
Its not a loophole, the SEC made a rule against this just like the B10 made a rule against oversigning. The SEC thought it was a problem so they addressed. The B1G thought oversigning was a problem so they addressed that. The difference is the B1G does not have the same rule about satellite as the SEC does.

I don't like that he did it so late. I understand keeping cHoke's recruits year one when he had a smaller window, but this should have happened months ago. However, since the kid was a member of the Brady bunch I understand why Harbaugh would want to rescind the scholarship

Speaking of which prized Brady bunch recruit Kyle Kalis may be exploring his options to transfer for his 5th year. I'm so glad Harbaugh has a 5th years are not guaranteed rule. I was frustrated watching D-linemen rush pass Kalis while he looked around for someone to block, good luck to him elsewhere.
The kid signed with Michigan, not Hoke. He gave his commitment to Michigan. I dont remember his saying I am attending Hoke university.

If you are going to criticize Urban Meyer and Ohio State over the Jamel Dean situation, you should at least get the facts straight.

Dean injured his knee in his junior year. Despite that, Ohio State took his commitment as the 2nd player in the class.

Dean then signed a mid-year agreement just prior to his senior year. This guaranteed that Dean had a scholarship at Ohio State (which is not a two-way street, interestingly enough) and allowed him to enroll early.

In the last game of his senior year, he tore his meniscus. Ohio State tried to get him to wait to enroll until it the results of his surgery were known. Numerous OSU insider recruiting guys stated he would not be part of the class. He insisted on enrolling anyway.

As soon as he got to campus, he had a physical. The OSU doctors advised that he should no longer play football. Meyer and Dean were told at that time he would not be cleared to play. That was 5 weeks before signing day.

Will his knee hold up at Auburn? I hope so for his sake, but blaming Urban Meyer for this is haterism at its finest.

I have no issue with pulling a scholarship if a player is injured, especially with concussions. A torn meniscus is about as common an injury as you will get for an athlete. If he blew his whole knee out, I'd understand. Even his ACL. A torn meniscus, even if it requires surgery only takes 4-6 weeks to heal and athletes who can dedicate time to rehab can take up to half that time.

A torn meniscus isn't going to end a players career.

While I agree players sign with a school. If a coach comes in with an entirely different scheme, that player may not fit.

As I have said before it is all fair but it does mean it is not shady.

fixed for truth.
Anyone who has ever suffered a knee injury can tell you first hand. A torn meniscus isn't a big deal. It is the most min or knee injury you can have. When u get into the ACL, MCL and PCL. That is when you are talking aboutajar surgeries and long rehab stints

As someone who has agreed it is shady to do what Harbaugh did to Eric Swenson. I have no issue with pulling a scholarship if I'm a new coach and someone recruited by the guy fired doesn't fit my plans. I don't think that is the case. With Swenson and why I said I hate how it was handled

I tore my ACL in college. I had about 6 months of rehab before I started serious running. Another 2 months to compete and another 6 months after that before I was not thinking about it on ever cut.

I've been fortunate to have never had such injuries so I haven't a clue on the topic. My youngest son suffered some kind of hip injury playing 8th grade football and he still has problems with it and the doctors didn't think there was much wrong with him at all. No surgeries, just "take it easy on it" for awhile. But it still bothers him and he complains about it when walking sometimes.

I hurt my hips in high school running cross country and it still bothers me 30 years later. Can't lay on my side for more than a few minutes before rolling over.

As I said, OSU or any top team for thst matter are no different. They all cut corners and trim roster fat.
Again, this isn't comparable to accepting the commitment of a kid, who was committed to coming to michigan for 3 years, and then yanking his scholarship 2 weeks before signing day without any rationale. All your link shows is that Meyer has had several medical hardship waivers, and not a single one has come under shady circumstances. Again, the two situations aren't the same. What Harbaugh did is flat out revolting unless there is something none of us know about this kid.

I have had multiple knee surgeries. He is mostly right. A torn meniscus is a pretty minor event, when it comes to knee injuries. MCL is also on the minor side. ACL is bad news. I have no experience with a PCL injury. There is no way a meniscus tear altered the kids sports future.

I wouldn't call it completely insignificant, but it isn't anywhere near as dramatic as an injury involving ligament damage.....typically. Most meniscus repairs that require surgery can be done in under an hour with a scope.

I agree. If the kid did nothing and Harbaugh pulled the scholarship two weeks before signing day. It is shady as hell and it would make me lose a lot of respect for Harbaugh and his staff. As it stands now. We only know one side as the school cannot comment until after signing day. I'm guessing g from the tweet today by Harbaugh. We will get to hear the other side of the story after signing day

Are they allowed to comment on recruits that sign elsewhere?

No. I don't think they can publicly comment until after national signing day.

If his response sounds like the torn meniscus ending a kids college career. I will be the first to call him out. I would be livid if Swenson was my kid and he was treated as he is reporting. Just seems there is more to the story. If not, Harbaugh is a shady bastard. Which after hearing how competitive he is with anything and everything -- it wouldn't surprise me
