I was screaming.....send him down to get him straightened out. Never for DFAing him. At least, take him out of the 8th inning role.

However.....he's making less than $600 K, is 29 and has - in the past, granted - shown he is capable, and is only arbitration eligible. While Napoli is 33, his body is shot, making $ 16 mil, and is a FA after this season.

Don't see how this helps us short or long term, regardless of how Scheppers turns out going forward

Maybe you weren't, but it was mentioned and some others agreed as well. You don't pay his 16m, merely small portion. Let Boston eat most of it. Again he gives you a RH bat and the opportunity to move MM now for something that could help going forward. Moving Mitch means you could possibly get starting pitching in return and then open 1st base for Beltre or Gallo for next year.

Eric Nadel was just commenting on the last two pitches to Trout. Both were sliders, and the 2nd strike, which, Trout fouled off, was TOO FAT. Then he laughing said, "Trout thought strike 3 was gonna break outside and it didn't move at all. Had he hit a homer off of either one of those pitches, we'd said they were mistake pitches."

Instead, Lewis comes through and Ks Trout and Pujols.

If he's bent on it, then make a decision on whether you want to try to take a shot at competing this year and keep him, or re-stock and sell him.
