i dont know the language of the contract . he will be 34 when its done so i see it being back loaded with the guarantees being upfront

as for talib , no big loss . amerson should be able to start and we drafted him to do just that . now we can take a tall , maybe raw cb in the mid rounds and develop him .

i bet we resign wilson on the cheap or his equal and shove him in the slot

i would hate getting wilson back though but maybe we have plans to spend money elsewhere

I'm ok with the re-signing, but not at that price. I mean, $5 million per season might be a little steep. I'm thinking it might be a cap-friendly deal. I don't believe we'll go after Talib, which is fine. I am alright with David Amerson on the other side. He's only gonna get better. The focus needs to be on the safety positions because that was the root of all evil in our secondary and has been for the last two seasons.

Agree - plus somehow upgrading the pass rush. A good pass rush will do wonders for the secondary.

Not that it really mAtters, but where did you getting your rankings Duke?? I saw 25-30 on both of the sites at looked at (cbssports & NFL.com). That seems much more realistic. Hall is a 2nd tier CB and he got paid as such. He has some great plays and some not so good ones. He is a solid piece, now let's get another one and some solid safety play and we will be fine in the secondary.

Hall plays with no safety help. There are not 10 corners that outplayed him last season.

I agree. We could sign a nickel guy and get a good safety with what we have to work with.

EXACTLY. Add a S via FA and get that pass rush improved, Hall and Amerson will look above average.
Hall locked WRs down liked he knew he was bout to get paid.

This could be the one rare time an organization shows loyalty. If you think this contract is a joke, imagine
shredding that 8mil contract and playing for 2mil. He balled out, trust me someone would have thrown money at him and forced the skins to avoid losing him. This signing appeared defensive. technically a 4yr deal at 30 expires when your 33.
He probably won't finish it out

So if he gets 5 million a year, what will Talib and Verner get? Good Lord....

Exaggerate much? Jeez - give it a rest. Allen generally does very well in structuring these type of deals (could not do this in last few years due to cap sanctions). I am sure that he will structure this, Orakpo's deal & others to be cap friendly. I love how you badmouth the deal before you even know all the details in a lame effort to rag on Snyder (yawn).

Not raggin on Synder. He had nothing to do with this. This was Allen.

The deal is reported at 4 years for 20 million. That would mean 5 million a year.

Here you go VT Sparks.

DeAngelo Hall - Washington Redskins - 2014 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

Apparently they are now changing their mind to 4 years 17 million. ESPN reports 20 million and rotoworld reports 17 million.

Waiting to see the final numbers and how it hits our cap this year as well as next. But even with this move, we still need to either sign another corner, or draft one. Would not mind seeing Biggers brought back as a depth/swing corner (you know the guy who can drop back at safety from the slot if our defense gets caught out of position)

Would not mind seeing a Corner rotation chart of

Hall, Amerson, Minnifield, Biggers, Baptiste (3rd round draft pick), Grimes (via FA)

Then we just need Safety's an ILB and damn we need alot on defense. :L

Redskins re-signed CB DeAngelo Hall to a four-year, $17 million contract.

The important number will be how much is guaranteed. Going on 31 and never exactly the most consistent player, Hall likely isn't getting any guaranteed money beyond 2014. Playing on a one-year, $1.25 million deal last season, Hall started all 16 games for the fourth consecutive year, notching 78 tackles, four picks and three forced fumbles. He was the No. 84 (out of 110) cornerback in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Number 84 out of 110...huh...

Think about that guys, that is like saying EVERY team in the NFL has 2 CBS better than Hall, and in most cases 3. Do you guys really think he was that bad?? I thought he played pretty well.

I think 4 years at 17mill is a good deal for both sides.

Hall might not be in the top ten CBs in the league, but he is one of the top 32, and I would say top 20-25 range in reality. If its 4 years $17 million its not a bad deal at all. Means currently we have Hall, Amerson and Minnifield signed as CBs. I expect we sign two more and still draft one. Question remains, who are the two we sign, and who are we targeting in the draft. Crawford is still on roster, but coming back off the knee he cant be relied upon this year.

I'd like to see how many corners play Dez and Megatron straight up and succeed like Hall has. Most of the time...when he appears to be beat...he seems to think he had safety help...and my guess is the safety was out of position.

And I don't even like Hall. Hall played like he was top ten last year.

If he'is really ranked 84 out of 110 that would mean he is a 3rd string cb at best. That rating is totaly wrong

My biggest beef with Hall is he is pretty inconsistent. He sorta plays up to the level of competition at times. Plays above average against top notch receivers, but sometimes against others leaves you scratching his head. His break down and tackling ability is suspect at times as well, but he looks like a tackling machine standing next to the rest of our secondary. Then again, I guess your top CB shouldn't necessarily be needed or used for run support anyways.

I am with you guys, get him some safety help over the top and this secondary could be much improved if Amerson continues to develop.

Details of #Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall’s deal: 4 years, $17M. He got $3.25M to sign, with $2M more in guarantees, per source.

Seems like a pretty good deal for both sides to me.

I agree....seems like a good deal all around....Im betting it is actually 2 years at basically 7 Mil....with years 3 & 4 at 5 mil each....all the money up front and very little cap hits on back end if cut...
