Dont have the $$$$ yet, but signed a 4 year contract....This signing I think may take us out of the talib bidding.....Hope it does anyway....We have Hall and Amerson needs to be a starter.......

I'm betting it is actually a 2 yr deal with the last 2 years as fluff

Why would it take us out of the Talib running? If we get Talib our CBs would actually be a strength this year. Hall is only good for 2 more seasons anyway. He is not a long term answer.

It may not take us out of the taleb running, but it certainly shores up our CB right now, with Hall and Amerson, Talib would be more a luxery pickup at this point...would be nice to have, but we dont have to break the bank for him as it is a luxery picup at this point.......

and so it would be maybe 2 years....maybe more...

Its not a luxury. CB is still a need for this team. Just b/c we signed Hall it doesn't mean we can cross off CB from our list. If you sign Talib then you can cross it off our list. Talib and Amerson would be the future and Hall will stick around for 2 years. I want to see how this deal is setup.

Ok maybe not a luxery, but having Hall sure as hell gives us some protection where we dont have to break the bank to get Talib...thats all I was saying....

We defiently need to see how it is structured.....

talib could be cheaper on the market b/c teams are afraid of the off-field stuff. experst are forecasting 7-8mil a season. Not a lot for a #1 CB.

Certainly would like to see how this contract is structured. $5M a year for Hall who is at the end of his career is a bit perplexing. He signed a cap friendly contract last year due to the fact that there were no takers but $5M a year seems "reaching" don't you think?

not to shoot Talib, but there are much cheaper options, players to be released, the draft and the possibility of adding a top S instead. Imagine our CBs with S's who know what they are doing in COVERAGE. Then you could always take your cornerstone CB next year with the 1st pick.

Talib is a great corner but this has got to be the worst environment for him.

Its a stupid signing and makes no sense. This is a good example of why we are constantly bad in the NFL. He didn't even grade out in the top 75 CB and he gets 5 million?

Why do people like to say Hall is at the end? Didn't he just turn 30?

Isn't Talib like 29?

oh...I still don't like the contract unless it is severely backloaded with little guaranteed.

If you watched him play last year abd honestly right he didn't have a great season your misguided...not top 75? Ignore that bs he balled out all year and was probably our best defensive player all season.

It really depends on the guaranteed money and language of the contract. Plus if he's not getting a raise, that's a deal for a guy asked to play on an island and take on the #1's. Trust...with the pieces we should add this year...and the cut he took last year....its fair. 5 mil per year "straight up" is nothing to them

He played ok for sure. The problem is that he was ranked 84 out of 110 CB. That doesn't merit 5 million a year. We bid against ourselves as usual. Not the start we need to free agency. Nobody else would have given him a contract like that in the NFL. We paniced and it showed.

He shouldn't be on an island taking on #1 WR. Thats my point. For every good play he makes in a game, he gets beat 10 others. The entire league is laughing at this deal. We always over-value our own players. I am sure Orakpo will get 15 million a year now and there goes our cap room. We can't afford to make stupid mistakes. We are still negociating with Moss as well. Does this team ever learn anything?

Exaggerate much? Jeez - give it a rest. Allen generally does very well in structuring these type of deals (could not do this in last few years due to cap sanctions). I am sure that he will structure this, Orakpo's deal & others to be cap friendly. I love how you badmouth the deal before you even know all the details in a lame effort to rag on Snyder (yawn).

I'm ok with the re-signing, but not at that price. I mean, $5 million per season might be a little steep. I'm thinking it might be a cap-friendly deal. I don't believe we'll go after Talib, which is fine. I am alright with David Amerson on the other side. He's only gonna get better. The focus needs to be on the safety positions because that was the root of all evil in our secondary and has been for the last two seasons.

I disagree. That rating is wrong plain and simple. Other teams would have realized that. They don't look at some random rating and say oh ok he sucked ignore him. They would look at the tape and say hey here's a really good cb. I think 5 mil is reasonable.

This could be the one rare time an organization shows loyalty. If you think this contract is a joke, imagine
shredding that 8mil contract and playing for 2mil. He balled out, trust me someone would have thrown money at him and forced the skins to avoid losing him. This signing appeared defensive. technically a 4yr deal at 30 expires when your 33.
He probably won't finish it out

He can be on an island versus a number 1 wr. He was all last year and has a very good season. I guarantee the entire league is not laughing at this deal right now.
