They picked up two guys with significant value for a guy who was going to leave them at the end of the season. To me that is a great trade when judging the trade presently.

That is impossible to answer because it couldn't have been made then.

However, in the offseason I wanted them to sign free agents for the pen. Trades were unnecessary at that point.

CY probably had some ownership rope and getting Chapman now is less costly money wise
Time will tell if this helps us get us over the top or if KC gets greater value

Yes, he did what he had to do. I just wish he would have thought of bullpen improvements in the offseason. It is a very good and needful move now, but the other was a glaring mistake at that point.
