Sure. They defintely can change, and the good news is that Jacksonville was a couple plays away from the super Bowl last year with Bortles and a very similar defensive model. Also with a much less dynamic offense overall.

That said, the 2 hardest things for QBs to improve IMO are accuracy and decision making under fire. Those are Trubisky's weaknesses.

This is sort of a fallacy, I am sorry to say. Accuracy comes from mechanics. His footwork is getting better. As is his accuracy. NE game was a setback, but he still made plays. Hedidn't miss a throw vs MIA/TB.

He's a high ceiling, low floor QB. If it all comes together he'll be a stud. If not, the potential for big bust is there. The tool set is outstanding.

Ha. You got jokes

He graded out higher on PFF last season by a solid margin. Watson's turnovers were brutal. Was pacing for 20 prior to the injury. He had more dropped INT's than any QB as well. His receivers did not drop a ball. He was horribly inaccurate as well. Trubisky played respectably with a CFL WR corp. Watson also padded the shit out of his stats in some garbage time.

Trubisky is already much better than Watson. The film doesn't lie. His numbers this season are also better.

I disagree.

And you are right. The film doesn't lie.

The physical tool set is outstanding. That is why he got picked where he did.

Yes. Mechanics do help accuracy, but there is a lot more to it. QBs simply don't go from one extreme to the other with a couples mechanical tweaks. Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees were always accurate. Cam
Newton has always struggled with accuracy.

And to be perfectly honest, IMO NFL scouts on average do a pretty crappy job evaluating QB prospects. Because evaluations tend to focus way too much on physical traits and "tools". Most don't really have a valid way to measure decision making skills, which are every bit as important, maybe more.
