James Gunn will be returning to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Marvel's new generalized MCU promo, near the end, has revealed the logo of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and given its release date as Friday, May 5, 2023, following Ant-Man 3 and preceding Fantastic Four Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels:

That's generally the hold up with these movies. So many bigger names they have to book them pretty far in advance.

It was initially pushed back because Disney fired James Gunn so he went and made The Suicide Squad. That cost them almost 2 years of a delay,

At SDCC, Marvel introduced the villain as the High Evolutionary, to be played by Chukwudi Iwuji! It is rumored that it will be revealed that he is Rocket Raccoon's creator through genetic engineering.

I dont think them showing Rocket's backstory means much. That looks really similar to his backstory in the Telltale video game and they didnt kill him there. That said, the scene with Groot shooting a bunch of guns pissed off probably means Rocket is either dead or captured there. So Im thinking 50/50.

That said, without Rocket, the Guardians are basically good guys. Rocket is Yondu. If they're both dead, Peter is basically making the decisions on his own.

If I was making a deadpool list before the trailer, I would've had Drax #1 and Nebula #2. I think after that trailer I'd put Rocket at the top.
