Some of this lands on Quinn too because this isn't the 1st time the Falcons has a big lead and lost it this season...He doesn't get involved with the OFC plays from what I understand, but when he said the toss sweep wasn't working, he should've called up to Shanahan and said, hey man, we need to change that toss sweep up...they are bringing 8 don't in the box on it every time now. Run something else.
Exactly.

Comeback / Ass kicking..
Went from being dominated by them to crushing their dreams.
Hell not only did the Pat's take the Falcon's lunch money they took their bus pass and library card.
A very good day!

If you're a Pats fan or a true football fan, it's the comeback.

If you're a Patriots hater then it's a choke. You just can't give credit where credit is due.

The Patriots defense figured out how to shut down the Falcons offense. More important, they found the three pieces that the Falcons had not spent most of their work on defending. Amendola, Mitchell and James White......Most if the Falcons efforts were spent on stopping Edelman, Hogan and Bennett.

28-3 at halftime.
28-3 with 2:30 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Patriots defense figured out how to stop Atlanta and implemented the plan in the second half.

The Patriots finally figured out the Falcons defense and score 19 points in the 4th quarter.

The Falcons had no answer in OT.
And there it is

New England played a phenomenal last quarter but the reality is that even that would not have been nearly enough if it weren't for the yack job in play calling. Literally an average football fan could have been OC for Atlanta the last 8 minutes and NE loses. It really was a fail of preposterous and epic proportions. So ludicrous it's almost surreal. Props to NE for capitalizing but they don't have a prayer to win that game without Atlantas capitulation. That's just the truth

I'll say that no comeback of that proportion can happen without a little help. Freeman's lack for picking up the blitz when that was his assignment on the strip sack changed the game, however Atlanta believed they were what they were and played to that. They throw the ball all over the yard....that's their identity and you said as much countless of times for weeks. What was it....38 points minimum? reality was time of possession killed your team and the holding penalty took your team out of FG range. Saying it was all coaching decisions the last 8 minutes is a weak excuse and nothing but an excuse. Your team got beat cause they scored 21 points, not 38 and lost because your back couldn't pick up a blitz and an olineman held at the most inopportune time.
That's the truth

If falcons kick the FG instead of self destructing they win no comeback. IMO that means choke nothing more or less. Either way NE put themselves in a situation to take advantage be happy for that but they weren't winning if it weren't for atrocious coaching.

I'm not saying the Atlanta coaching staff made all the right decisions but it's often too easy to criticize every single questionable coaching call by fans. This is maybe where inexperience made a difference but overall they had a hell of gameplan and the team executed damm well.

I'm only criticizing one series and I think it was more hubris than inexperience on Shanny's part.

How long before some dumbass labels this SB win as next-gate? You know as in like what the F did those F-ing Pats do to win gate. Surely no more than 24 hours before we have to hear about X gate and many slobs are waiting for those sickening Pats to get caught with hand in cookie jar again. Just wait a few days and some unknown F-er is going to start whatever the F gate rumors, again. Book it.
Falcons got a call from Vegas

What a little bitch.

I asked this in another thread:

What about executing the plays that were called? What about the vast difference in talent level between the teams? What about the Pats D having no answer at all? I mean, I recall that you were regretful about having to say it but facts are facts. The Pats D hasn't faced a QB like Ryan.

What about all that?

How about "the Falcons are going to score virtually every time" and "they will score 6 or 7 times depending on how many possessions they have".

9 possessions (not including the end of half and end of game) and they scored 3 times.

Execution.............critical to win any game. Absolutely critical to win the Super Bowl.

1. Devonte Freeman becoming a turnstile when Donte Hightower came like a runaway freight train. Instead of blocking him, Freeman tried to brush him. Hightower get's Ryan's arm, the ball hits the ground and the Patriots recover.

2. Instead of just running the ball, the coaching staff decided that they needed to score another touchdown. Just running the ball would have run at least 2 minutes off the clock and at worst case the falcons kick a FG and the game is out of reach. They feared that Brady might get an extra opportunity to score and tried to put the game out of reach.

3. Falcons coaching staff kept thinking that the offense would be able to do something that they couldn't do in the second half. Get a sustained drive going and eat up the clock. What they were not doing is recognizing that the Patriots were not rushing 3 or 4, they were bringing 5 and the Falcons offensive line was gassed and couldn't stop a baby carriage.

4. In the second half of the game, the Falcons could not execute on offense or defense. The slower more methodical Patriots punched them in the face and took away their lunch. When it counted, the Patriots were able to execute their game plan and win the game.

#2 was all about bad coaching. Kill time take the points and win that was all on Quinn and was my point that he gave NE the game. He also could have ran on 3-1 which was safer worst case kill clock and punt. Never a bad idea when winning by that much.

I'm 100% football fan and you're correct with this statement.

Roger Staubach in his day was known as Captain Comeback and in each situation the other team had some type of woulda, coulda, shoulda that contributed.
