I don’t think Dean or any of us “puppets” are dodging the question. What part of “not worth the money” do you not get crybaby??

OK how much do think a franchise caliber QB is worth? Or are you in the only Elite QB's are Franchise QB's class?

You mean not Elite or are you going back to III.

Both actually. 2015 was all about him not being III, and it kinda just morphed into he isnt elite. The front office never really warmed up to Cousins, or part of the fan base for that matter.

Short of him becoming elite, they werent going to have him.

I didn''t get hot after the trade. Now I am hot. 7 fucking games and the 49ers figured it out. 18-19 years Dan and (insert flunky) here are still :wank: each other off. They are dumb stupid Maryland Farmers just like all the ABCers were.

Maybe 2021 is right, go root for someone else. :noidea:

Let’s put it this way. The 9ers must be really high on Grap, because I think that contract is absolute fucking insanity for a QB that has done very little. Kirk isn’t worth 30 million a year... period. I’ll take my chances with Alex Smith couple years and some unnamed QB yet to be drafted.

Maybe the Niners learned from our mistake and realized, betting against your QB and slapping the tag on him will only leave you in a position to do something more expensive and desperate to get another QB, or drive up the price on your own QB to a point where you might not be able to keep him.

OK so he's not worth 30M fine, but I think he's worth 22M and for what it's worth I thought he was worth it two years ago since it was the going rate for starting QB's especially QB's who look like Franchise QB's.

I for one am glad Allen screwed the pooch here.

I agree KC is not worth 30 million this season.

He is worth 20 million.

Next year he is worth 26 million.

The year after he is worth 30 million.

After that, he is worth 34 million.

That final year, he may or may not be worth 40 million, but it wouldn’t cost much to release him.

These are cap hit break downs. This is how the NFL works.

Of the teams listed, the teams that would have to do some real juggle work would be the Broncos and Cardinals.

BUt you are also assuming Cousins would try and play stickup kid with those teams. I know I know, he did it with the Redskins.

But all the teams listed can make it work. The only reason the Browns are in the conversation is because they COULD outbid all the other teams without blinking. But I dont think he goes to the Browns unless they offer him a deal he simply cant turn down, and by that i mean drastically over pay.

Actually, the Cardinals will likely be at $40+ mil cap space by the start of the new league year. Whether they are willing to dedicate 60-70% of that space to just one player, is the question, considering their other needs @ O-line & WR.

Let's not forget that Kirk is from Illinois, so being closer to home and family will also be a factor. Cleveland is 380 miles away from his home and depending on traffic anywhere from a 5.5 to 9 hour drive.

I have no illusions as to where he likely will sign. But if his true intent is going to a place where he can win, the Cardinals should be near the top of his list. A top 5 defense along one of the best all around RBs in the NFL.

But if money is his main priority, he won't be heading to AZ.

Or he makes enough money that he could charter a private plane any time he wanted to get home for the weekend.

Just saying. I realize the Browns would so validate the mantra that its all about the Money with Cousins, and it may well be. I also know that some are hoping he goes there because simply put no one succeeds in Cleveland.

But Im thinking if he has other options, the Browns might be on the list.... but they are not likely high up on the list.

Look at the yearly average of Grop's deal. 27.5M/year. That is a deal averaging more than the first tag amount 23.5M, but less than the 2nd tag amount, 28.2M.

Like Cousins, if Jimmy played on the first tag in 2018 and was anywhere near as successful as he was in 2017, his demands would go up to the top of the market, only by then, the top of the QB market would be significantly higher than it is now b/c it would include the new deals for Brees and Cousins and maybe Ryan. So, we could either pay 27.5M/year now or we could wait and see for a season and end up having to pay 30M/year or more on a LTD. So, the Niners took more of a risk and paid him before the market, and Jimmy's experience/productivity, went up.

Could be that:

--Shanny thought Grop was better
--Shanny and Lynch saw Grop as a bird in the hand
--Shanny had Grop and KC rated similarly, but Grop would be easier/cheaper to sign to a LTD
--or a mix of those

This same question was asked when the Niners traded for Grop when everyone expected us to go after Cousins. The Niner media said it was "bird in the hand".

and to @Sharkinva where is 9ers cap space know to fill holes etc etc
According to Sportrac's estimates, the Niners started with a projected 117M in cap space for 2018.

So, even if Grop has a 30M cap figure in 2018, we'd still be looking at 87M in cap space for 2018. That would still be 2nd most in the league.

You know, Im starting to wonder.. .with all the faith the Front Office, and some around here and on other sites showed in Colt McCoy....

Why was the Smith trade even needed. Because unless Im mistaken it was said many times, Colt McCoy would have done just as well as Cousins.
