Dean were you against paying market value AT The Fucking time each contract can due? That means after every damn season you simpleton : you and the the damn puppets didn’t want to pay market value after 2015 or 16 or 17 , you are a damn liar if you thought 30 damn mil as in play in 2015 or even 16 .

Now grap signs a record deal with less experience then KC had going into 2015 . In 2015 a record deal wasn’t in play

grap is younger. after 2015 the skins did want to give Kc a long term deal b/c of a small sample size. after 2016 they werent convinced of his play and offered the tag. I believe both parties wanted the tag for the 2nd time. I predicted that KC wasn't going to sign long term this year b/c HE WANTED THE TAG TO HIT FA. Guess what? That is exactly what happened.

we have just as much of a chance of winning than the Jets, Browns, 49ers and Broncos. So im happy with a good QB. I m not freaking out like you

We know he was set to make $17M before this trade.

Now unless you think he lowered this number, any signing bonus would go on top of this.

To guarantee $71M you figure they counted that $17M in there already.

71-17= 54, so we got to spread $54M over 5 years total Figure 30M in signing bonus divided by 5= $6M a year in prorate bonus.

17 + 6 = 23.

SO as I said, unless they back loaded the deal, I expect him to count no less than $20M against our cap.

By the same token I expect Kirk to count no more than $27M against his new teams cap.

IM confident in my math, how much faith do you have in yours??

@Niner Outlaw Care to throw in your guess, you are fairly good with cap numbers from what i have seen. :suds:
Honestly, I think you've got a pretty realistic estimate for Smith and Cousins. Unless Cousins signs in Cleveland, I don't see any way his cap number is 30M for the first year, but it'll get there and then some in the future. If he signs in Denver, or NYJ, etc. his first few years' cap numbers will almost have to be below 30M.

As for Smith, it's almost certain that the 17M salary he's set to make in 2018 will be part of the guarantee (whether it's salary or part of a SB). That leaves 54M. There is no way that all of that will be a signing bonus and there is no way that all 54M is fully guaranteed. Smith wouldn't have signed a deal that backloaded his salaries where he could be cut after a few years unless he got a sizable signing bonus or higher guaranteed salaries early in the deal. I could see Smith's deal having a low cap figure this first year, but his cap numbers from 2019-2022 practically have to be 20M or higher.

not in the first 3 years. Grap got 90 In the first 3 years

90 million cash in first three years does not mean there will be a 90 mil cap hit in first three years. It means he got a signing bonus and some portions of the other money to be received in the first three years are guaranteed. I hope you know the signing bonus can be spread.

Fine I never saw those Tweets. So Alex smith gmoney was all cash?
I can't find any reports at all of Smith's cash payout. We'll have to wait a few weeks to know for sure, but you can bet that the 17M salary this year is guaranteed and probably his salary next year too (we don't know what the salary is). The big cap issue will be how much of his "guaranteed" money is signing bonus--and a report of his cash payout would help us figure that out, but like I said, I haven't been able to find one.

You must remember, this is the person who has railed about Kirk holding the team hostage over his contract demands, but now hopes and prays Bruce will hold Kirk Hostage to try and get something in return for a player the team didnt want.... nothing personal though.

Prized Free Agents dont generally have to fall back to a one year prove it deal on the open market. We over paid him.
I remember saying at the time, that ya'll got a steal. Smh, so much for that! LOL. Pryor will be lucky to get a deal much higher than the minimum.

IM sticking with a $30M signing bonus for a first year cap number of $23M

49ers signed QB Jimmy Garoppolo to a five-year, $137.5 million contract.

In terms of average-annual value — $27.5 million — it makes Garoppolo the highest-paid player in NFL history. That's at least until Kirk Cousins hits free agency. Going on 27, Garoppolo has made only seven career starts, but he has won all of them. He was a wonder in his six 2017 49ers appearances, completing 67.4 percent of his 178 passes while averaging 8.8 yards per attempt. This, with Marquise Goodwin as his No. 1 receiver. Garoppolo's signature is his lighting-quick release. It allows him to attempt throws other quarterbacks would not dream of. The money is eye-popping for someone with so little regular season experience, but Garoppolo should validate the 49ers' trust in 2018.

I'm guessing that 22M Cousins first asked for would look pretty damn good right now.

It would look awesome if you thought the Redskins had any intention of Keeping Cousins long term in any capacity. I for one dont. They gave him the non exclusive tag in 16 hoping some one would bite. They gave him the exclusive tag last year hoping some one would bite and they could strong arm his destination.

All this proves is, the longer you dick around, the more a QB is going to cost you. Cousins will get more than Grap, and the next guy will get more than Cousins. We saved a few MIllion, we get to start over.

This message brought to you by the Charlie Sheen motivational council. Because yes we are winning.
Agree with your points with one exception, the Skins are not starting over.

A switch at QB always means starting over to some degree.

Add in that we have really no idea what we have at WR aside from Doctson who is not a finished product, and Grant... and we are basically starting over.

True. I'm not sn NFL Talent scout, but in Cousins I see an NFL QB not sure what the Redskins staff sees.

I don’t think Dean or any of us “puppets” are dodging the question. What part of “not worth the money” do you not get crybaby??

You mean not Elite or are you going back to III.

I feared RGIII potential, that potential never panned out, if the ABC crowd is actually butt hurt over that they have bigger issues than Cousins at QB
