Sure, but maybe the team succeeds in a different way with Bettis. His '96 and '97 seasons really would've been useful with the Rams. Or, maybe Bettis gets traded in a better deal later. One thing for sure; the Rams wouldn't have wasted their 2006 1st rounder on Phillips. Maybe they draft a Terry Glenn or Marvin Harrison at WR instead, or a defense-changing linebacker like Ray Lewis?
Impossible to say, especially with coaching changes in the mix that heavily changed the team approach as well. Still fun to speculate...
