Well Pead isn't around anymore. Maybe its Marquez's turn.

Ya, I know, but that's the problem, Givens was one of the fastest guys on the team and if you aren't going to use him as a receiver, he should have been returning kicks instead of Pead. For that matter send Marquez to Baltimore and keep Givens as the returner and occasional deep threat!

I totally agree. There is no doubt in my mind they should have kept Givens but somebody in the FO or the coaching staff gets something stuck in their heads and they refuse to see the bigger picture. Givens is going to be used mightily by Harbaugh and I know his career is going to improve.

I agree, and I hope he does!

Are we really surprised by this? Why would you want your team to be competitive? You want near empty stadiums, makes it easier to move the team.

Yep Chilipepper and he ended up getting a superbowl ring with the Steelers. There are quite a few players who have gone on to get rings with other clubs which is evidence to suggest that the corporate climate, the FO, and the coaching with the Rams are crap. The players have talent; they are not being coached correctly or motivated to win.

I'm going to disagree with the masses here. The vast majority of players the Rams have gotten rid of recently (the past 2 regimes) haven't done much of anything. Most flamed out really quickly.

Givens fits Flacco well so maybe he does better on the Ravens but basically Givens hasn't added anything to the Rams in the past couple of years and is another draft pick bust.

I agree, that may be, but part of it is they also don't use the players properly. Austin should be getting more than 5-6 touches a game, and Givens "should" have been used as a kick returner instead of Pead, worse case the Rams should be trying to throw the ball deep "at least " once a game if not a couple times, and that would be going to Givens! Bailey should be used more! They obviously aren't putting their players in positions to succeed!

Yeah, one catch for seven yards this year...sure looks like an emerging receiver me. LOL, he hasn't done jack squat since his rookie year, but some of you are making him out to be Henry Ellard.

Once again, you are making assumptions, no one, nowhere, said Givens was anywhere close to a Henry Ellard!! Maybe because our oline doesn't pass protect very well there are no opportunities to throw the ball deep, so maybe, just maybe he really hasn't been given the chance to get the deep ball. Doesn't change the fact that he would have been more useful than Pead as a kick returner!

Look at how vehement people are against the trade. He's #5 on the depth chart, he was not going to be resigned, so we might as well get something for him. And I agree regarding Pead, he shouldn't have been returning kicks. But this idea that Givens was just starting to blossom is horse hockey. He hasn't accomplished anything the last two seasons, he's not a good route runner and he's a one trick pony(and he hasn't shown that ability since his rookie year).

And I don't see where people were saying that he is blossoming? I agree with you, he is a one trick pony, but it's good to have a home run threat, who do we have now that is? We don't! While we seldom hit the home run, it's nice to have that option to possibly work! But again, there is absolutely no reason that he shouldn't have been returning kicks, that's the issue, this so called coaching staff doesn't use the personal they have effectively?

I agree Chilipepper. Just watch. His career will now take-off like so many other ex-Rams that have left to have their careers flourish and some even obtain superbowl rings with other clubs such as Madison Hedgecock with the Giants and Mike Hoomanawaunui and Danny Amendola with the Patriots just last year. Amendola, BTW is have a great year this year as being one of Tom Brady's go-to guys. The Rams are fast becoming the laughingstock of the league again with insanity like this trade.

Dola has 8 catches through 3 games. He has contributed, but he's at least 4th on the totem pole for targets behind Gronk, Edelman, and Lewis (and maybe even Dobson, who has more catches as well).

As far as the trade, I hope it is at least conditional, as the Ravens are in a tough spot for WR. Should've been able to hold out for more than a future 7th IMO. Givens gets replaced on the active roster by Quick. Even if not traded, Givens may have been an inactive in the games to come, or at least in that discussion.

Marquez is a dynamo on special teams. That's why he's here instead of Givens. Since we probably will be spending a high draft pick on a receiver next year, it made sense to get something for the soon to be free agent Givens.

I'm very happy to see Austin and Bailey on the field a lot more. With Britt and Quick providing some size at the position, Givens was the odd man out.

Yeah I'll take more Stedman Bailey every game. And keep finding ways to get Tavon the ball.

I liked Givens. We will see what he does in Balt. It sure seems like we gave him away for nothing, while getting thinner at WR

Not as bad for me as when we got rid of Dickerson, I'll NEVER forget that weekend...

True, both black days for me. I think I still have the local paper showing Dickerson as the Rams 1st round pick. He was my favorite player during his Rams days.

If we don't get rid of Bettis, we don't end up with Faulk in '99.
