Gimme Five: Give me your five favorite picks from the draft. No honorable mention or 5a bullshit, put some thought into you lazy bastards

1. OT Will Campbell. It may have been a poor class for OT and he may not be a hall of famer, but he was the best option at the greatest position of need. I read where some sportswriter graded this a C-. He said that the Pats needed more skill players and should have selected Jeanty. And then there was a run on OTs. We would have ended up with lesser talent.

2. RB TreyVeon Henderson: He is perfect for McDaniels, blocks really well, his quick with great hands some consider it a reach but when I think about how he will fit in McDaniels scheme I like the pick.

3. C Jared Wilson: Is he raw? Yep! Does he have a high ceiling? Yep! We need more than just and OT on the line, tough physical athletic C was a great pick here. So what if he needs a year or two if he's solid for ten or twelve the time is worth the investment.

4. K Arndres Borregales. If there is a team that understand the importance of a K, it's us. Another one of those, "Well they could have waited". There was no need to wait they had already done what they set out to do.

5. DT Josh Farmer: Pressure, Pressure, Pressure, you have got to be able to move the QB off their spot, he has the ability to get after QBs, to flush them from the pocket and into a sack. This pick did not garner a lot of attention but it's a solid pick
I agree with all of this.

I also like the RB UFA they signed, as well as the LO from Boston College.

2) Jared Wilson Best center in the draft and a position of need
3)TreyVeyon Henderson Home run hitter
4) Williams another big play player
5) Will Campbell. I put him last just to piss off @YankeeRebel

My standard response is to focus on game execution and results and defer free agency and draft analysis. However, I really like this draft.

1) C - Wilson, great value and really good tangible.

2) RB - Henderson, he wasn't really on my radar but I like the game breaking ability combined with a plus protection reputation. We need guys that appreciate the best work isn't sexy.

3) OT - Bryant, big and fast for his size and nabbed that late.

4) EDge - Swinson, great value, seems like a late bloomer who just didn't put enough on tape to go in the first two days.

5) OT - Campbell, I only have him here because he didn't represent good value at 4, but he was the right pick.

And to think...If Mayo/Milton hadn't beat the Bills, The Pats could have done all of this AND grabbed at least an extra first round pick for next year.

I blame Mayo. Milton didn't throw one pass to himself. The whole team executed like the game mattered.

I know and I agree.
I actually wonder is Vrabel didn't do Milton a favor by trading him somewhere that has a QB that goes down often so that he will get real reps.

He could have over thrown 1 or 2 though and nobody would have been surprised...

Bourne was interviewed after the game (and he's a good interview) and he had a glow like the team has somehow got rid of a monkey on it's back. The team wanted the win and that stated and ended with Mayo.

Not a single professional athlete should ever not want to win or be willing to throw a game.

My comment was more sarcastic than anything.

Yeah, I view most comments as discussion points and not necessarily convictions. There's "throwing a game" and recognizing when the oposition is throwing the game. That win really hurt the team. Any sense of professional pride was delusional. That Buffalo team laughed all the way home as they hurt their opposition without impacting their team, just by losing.

That game did not matter to our team. If we had the 1st pick, were we going to take a QB? We got an A on the draft. You want a AAA but it does not exist. That game was last year. Let it go!

He was replying to my comment.

The Giants offered next years 1st plus more to move up two places. Without the need for a QB the Pats could have gained an additional early pick next year as well as doing everything they did this year.
And if my brother was a girl he would be another sister.

If's mean nothing.

But it's the offseason.

Value is value. I'm not stuck on it, as you pointed out, the team seems to have maximized what it had. There was more value to be had and poor behavior lost it. Milk was spilled and cleaned up. That's the good part. But it's important to recognize the milk to ensure that behavior doesn't repeat, whether it's a thimble or the entire jug.

Perhaps Milton and the Professional Athletes saw value in putting forth their best effort.

I do get that, I do. It's why I put the onus on Mayo. Maybe Buffalo threw the game too much to be able to respond equally without the team seeing an integrity issue. Or maybe balling out was hard to resist given the trying season. Regardless, they lost when they thought they won.

Buffalo had nothing to play for and didn't want to risk a broken pinkie or a torn ACL. 22 Starters sat on the sidelines. Mayo saw a chance to improve his record to 3-14 and not risk a Maye injury. If they lost, He'd be 2-15 and have the #1 pick. He made the wrong decision starting Milton. He should have started the 3rd guy (forgot his name already) and none of the Patriot starters. It was a horrible coaching decision considering the potential prize. He could have taken Hunter with #1 or traded it for wagon load of picks. We'll never know.

We do know that it cost him his job. AND It got Milton traded because he openly and publicly said that he thought he was better than Maye and should be the starter.

Overall......................I think it worked out for the best. Change now means a change in attitude and a change in overall thought processes. This new team will win quite possibly four times as many games in 2025 as it won in 2024.

First Vrabel gets hired and then the Pats draft a Buckeye.

Getting easier & easier to root for NE.

Hope they have a good season.

Well we appreciate your somewhat biased well wishes.

No biased well wishes at all.

Too bad you have no idea what the hell's going on. Nothing new with you.

After Vrabel got hired I've said in multiple Pats threads that I'm now a fan because Mike & I have been friends since we were kids. I've even seen his Super Bowl rings in person.

I was also a Titans fan when he coached them.

So spare me your nonsense since you're completely clueless.
