Do you open the door to ger recognition or do you do it because it's the right thing to do......
Definitely for the recognition! I want to be famous for being the best door holder opener in the world! Really??? I’ve never thought that in my life. It’s the courteous thing to do. Always have and always will.

I agree, I do it because I was brought up that way, not for recognition. At the same time I was brought up to say thank you as a courtesy.

Right now I am on a 6 week metabolic reset diet.

Ground beef, browned with butter.
Ribeye.
Sirloin, with butter.
Chicken thighs, not boneless/skinless. Eat the skin. Once a week.
Salmon, in butter. Once a week.
Eggs. Lots of eggs.
Bacon. Lots of bacon.
Broccoli florets, summer squash, zucchini.
Garlic.
Avocado.
Coffee, with or without ghee.
Water.
Salt and pepper.

Sounds like a lot but think about it.
Every morning is bacon eggs and avocado.
Every lunch is ground beef with chopped garlic and squash/zucchini with garlic butter
Dinner is steak 5 days a week with chicken once a salmon once.

No snacking.

First two weeks I cheated. I had a couple Medjool dates with peanut butter in the morning and a handful of cashews in the afternoon.
First week I dropped 6 lbs. Second week I dropped 2.
I quit cheating and I dropped 3 1/2 last week. I know Medjool dates are loaded with natural sugar, so that's on me.
3 weeks left and I am aiming for another 10 lbs. I will then start adding back in natural sugars, Apples, Bananas, Berries. Maybe Yogurt.
AND CASHEWS!!!

One of my 2025 goals was under 200 lbs, which would be a 19 lb drop since last fall or 27 off my heaviest.
If I hit that in the next 3 weeks I will reset my goal for 2025 to be under 190.
I also set a goal of a half marathon in under three hours. We'll see what my knees say about that with less weight pounding on my knees.

Good for you man, i havent been that restrictive other than staying in a caloric deficit aiming for 2 lbs a week but ive gone from 195 to 186 in about 50 days with a roughly (per my watch) body fat from 27 to 18. Im pushing for 10 which is lofty for 40s. Workouts are push, legs/abs, pull, rest in that 4 day order.

Do you track cals or just make sure to eat same thing?

Five Pet Peeves

1). When someone leaves their shopping cart in the middle of the isle while they go to get something off the shelf. I will push their cart out of the way with mine. Fuckers.

2). When I hold the door open for someone and they don’t say “thank you”. I tell them they are welcome in a very snarky way. Fuckers

3). When my kids would butter their toast and leave toast crumbs on the butter from the knife. Fuckers

4). People who walk their dogs without leashes. When they say “My dog is friendly and doesn’t bite”. Guess what … mine do. Keep your dog on a leash and away from mine. Fuckers

5). When someone blows their nose while at a restaurant. The sound is disgusting. And I lose my appetite. Go to the restroom and do that shit. Fuckers

When I hold the door open for someone and they don’t say “thank you”. I tell them they are welcome in a very snarky way. Fuckers

Do you open the door to ger recognition or do you do it because it's the right thing to do......
There's definitely a line in the sand on the "holding the door open". If you do it as a gesture for the next person so the door doesn't close on them, a thank you should follow as a proper social response. But if you do it when it's totally unnecessary, like when a stream of people are walking through, you're just fishing for fake recognition.

I find that holding a door open for someone over 50ish always gets a "Thank You".

Under that, they seem to think it's a privilege for me to do it for them.

Again, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Those young folks are our children's children. If we didn't do a good job teaching our children, then they won't be able to teach theirs.

Five more things......

Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints knocking on my front door, trying to convince me to attend their church

Teenagers with their grandmother's handicapped placards parking in a handicapped parking space. Especially at a beach.

Going to a doctor's appointment, arriving early and being told that he had an emergency and waiting over an hour past my appointment. For the third time in a row.

People knocking on my door trying to sell me solar power.

Ads for cheap internet over the past three years that are still not available in my neighborhood.

#6 People who think that Minority = Handicapped or Elderly = handicapped. I am handicapped with a walking disability. Nothing pisses me off more than having a bad pain day and seeing perfectly healthy people racing for a handicapped parking spot and then running into the grocery store.

#7 Never seeing a ticket on a vehicle in a handicapped parking spot that shouldn't be there. But don't park illegally within 500 yards of any City Hall.

Just eating the same thing. Essentially eat until I am full...not stuffed.
Fat has more calories per given volume than sugar, but it takes calories to break down the fat to useable sugar, or glucose. where as the other sugars are able to be used instantly.
So once my metabolism has been "reset" my body will look to burn fat as a fuel source rather than relying on rapidly available sugar. Breads, Pasta's donuts etc. At that point I can add back in some of the natural carbs and sugars like apples, bananas, beets, potatoes, and the natural fiber will offset the natural sugar.
Down 15 so far with a week and a half to go.

Planks, hanging and pushups and walking the dog 5 miles at a time right now. I will add in weights soon and biking when this weather breaks.

Honestly I open doors for others out of habit without thinking about it
Like Happy Chuck said, because it's courteous.

It's still irritating when someone steps through the door you just opened for them and doesn't even attempt eye contact, like it was your duty to recognize their royalty.

Nah, a thank you is still in order. From one of them at a minimum.

I mix in planks and push ups here and there, my plan is do a few sets of them daily. I mix up the cardio to keep me interested lol.

All in all though man nice work! I find it addictive once i get rolling, im never going back (save for an injury) of not staying active.

#8 Motorcycles parked in the painted hash area just to the outside of the handicapped parking spots. Not everyone gets training in MUTCD, but the hash marks mean off limits. Or parking in the "No Parking-Fire Lane" area right in front of the store.

I taught my children to have good manners. I also taught them to recognize that not everybody else has them.

Mormons are just doing what they think they are supposed to.

When I find not handicapped people parking in handicapped spaces, I take the opportunity to chew them out if I can. If they are not available, I think to myself that they are cursing themselves and will likely end up handicapped.....

If cops were handing out tickets for those illegally parking in handicap spots, we'd be bitching about cops misplacing their priorities.

OMG Gotta ad a sixth as much as I hate to. A coworker and I went out for lunch, Chipotle. Waiting in line a young female was on her phone, speaker on, in the line talking about why her baby daddy gave her money for the baby but not her. This conversation took place the entire 10- to 15 minutes we were in the place. I honestly wanted to say something but knew full well that would not go over well.
