A year later. It was definitely well worth it. Whether you re-sign here or not Angel, thank you!

BTW, how badly do you think Sandy Vagerson hates the Giants after the WS victory??? :heh:

But seriously, please re-sign with the Giants. ;)

lol, it was more because I thought some of the analysis here was interesting (kind of thinking along the lines of msg's "none of us know 'nothin" catch phrase)..... as for the post above, think of this "bump" as a little more than serendipitous. :heh:

I think a couple of guys really nailed it, Heath and SF11704 in particular. But good comments all around. Still, that dig on tz was an all-timer. :charlie:

Are you a Giants fan?

Pagan is better than Torres in almost every offensive category especially average, k-rate, SB, and most importantly consistency - even despite his off year last year which was comparable to Torres' only good year.

I give Torres the nod on D but otherwise what are you smoking man?

I still maintain that "clawed their own eyes out" means "scheduled vaginal tightening surgery."

But that's just me....

I approve of this post.

However, I think it's gonna be Swish and Scoots.

Women, can't live with 'em, and they can't pee standing up.

Obviously, there's not much meat nor potatoes here.....but it is something. I fear Mr. Pagan will not be back (and I don't blame him one bit), there's too much money on the table out there. Obviously, I'll still hold out hope, but it's not looking good.

I wouldn't worry about it. I think of it like this: if his contract demands are reasonable, we'll sign him. If they are unreasonable, let someone else overpay and move on to the next FA OF. In SabeySabes I trust. Either way, I'm grateful for his contributions.

Well I guess this trade made up for the Beltran-Wheeler deal. Man did Torres and Romero disappoint.

Yeah, the Giants needed something on their side of the ledger from that Beltran trade. I liked the trade, but with hindsight 20/20 glasses, obviously it ended up being an overpay.

How's Wheeler progressing for you guys? I think last I heard he was still doing well. I've lost track of him since he left our farm system.

Also, sorry Nasty, my earlier post wasn't a hit on the Mets. I have nothing against them. I just hate Sandy Alderson.....didn't like him much when he was with the A's and can't stand him now on the Mets. I recognize he is a good baseball mind, I just think he's an asshole.

No worries. The Mets have been a punching bag for the league for all but maybe 5 years of my life so there's pretty much nothing you can say that would bug me about them.

Wheeler was a stud in the minors last year, played in the minor league All-Star game. He's expected to be in the MLB rotation this year which makes RA Dickey very expendable for us.

Agreed but with the caveat that we really need a legit leadoff hitter. If we did get Swisher and Scutaro like you said, that makes Blanco the leadoff guy and I'm not sure he can be good enough for a whole year leading off.

If the market is all 'overpay' (thanks to the Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jays, etc) I'd rather overpay for Pagan than any of the other choices.

If we got Swish and Scoots, I think we'd get Hairston to platoon with Shark. I'd be OK with this lineup:

CF Hairston/Shark
2B Scoots
3B Panda
C MVP
LF Swish
1B Pick
RF Herk
SS Fish

With Freak returning to form; Cain, Bum and Tron doing what they do; and Zeets not sucking I like our chances.

Well, in a vacuum, sure. But HOW MUCH of an overpay, and what are the "other choices" you are considering. Would they also be overpays?

What if Swish is 3/36 and Pagan is 4/60? Do you want to commit big bucks to a guy in his mid 30s who relies on his legs to produce value?

This is also the Bourne Dilemma.

If I'm going to give a multiyear deal to a guy into his mid 30s, I'd rather bet on batting savvy and OBP than defense and speed.

But, in a vacuum, it's a close call.

If you sign Nick Swisher you will all hate him by June. And you will be looking to lynch him in the playoffs. He's garbage, you don't want him.
