So unfair that Cain gets charged with that second ER, when it took two other pitchers to make it happen.

I've mused over using some kind of ER sharing system, where a guy on 3rd scores = 1/4 run to the reliever, 3/4 to the SP, etc. But it doesn't really work.

I would say if the pitcher left with the runner on scoring position, that run is his, otherwise it belongs to the pitcher coming in.

I don't have a problem with bringing in Affeldt. It's a long season and you've got to share the load. Plus, you've got to try to get Affeldt into form - might as well use May for that.

Good idea. I can see how that would get dicey, but it isn't any more or less theoretical than most sabermetrics, to me.
