Okay but even if you wanted to save Ramirez and Romo why wouldn't you put in Mota who hasn't worked in forever over Runzler with Sanchez - Dobbs - Stanton due up? Didn't he need a maintenance inning anyway?
And I'm getting sick of saving Romo for situations that never come up. What are the "Romo rules" these days anyway? If it's a lead in the 8th inning vs. a RHH and he didn't work the day before and there's a dispensation from the Vatican and what else does it take to get him in a fucking game?
If Bochy is not going to use him in the 8th inning with a lead because he prefers Lopez / Ramirez in that situation instead, fine. But why not start using him when trailing in the 7th instead? Why not give him a chance to show he can get LHH out (like he's been doing his entire career) instead of just assuming he can't and never giving him a chance to prove that wrong?
OK, this just makes the inevitable comeback SO MUCH MORE AWESOME!
Runz needs the work, for one. He's still learning how to pitch, and the giants are still trying to find out what he can do.
Posey going deep here?
I'd rather they string together walks, singles, and doubles to bring the pressure. A solo HR doesn't do it.
