I wonder if the absolute value of a triple with a runner at first and two outs is equal to the absolute value of failing to get a runner home from third and less than two outs? Msgking? Thoughts?

Based on the heatmaps I've been working on, Schierholtz should attack the outside pitch, and take the inside ones. While he's showing a good eye by taking the outside balls, the fact remains that his wOBA on those balls is much better than any strike he gets on the inside part of the plate. He probably should back off the plate about 3".

He definitely crowds the plate (more than some, not as much as others), but maybe that is what has enabled him to maintain solid contact with the outside pitch, recognize the inside slider and lay off of it. I don't think 3" would make much of a difference, and it is a great suggestion, but I would be interested to see how it would change his perception of hitting that pitch at his back foot. Hopefully, it wouldn't get him back into bad habits.

I actually prefer crowding the plate as a default position. But the numbers are showing Nate's hot zone to extend well off the plate - while he's got a hole on the inside. Just an idea to move him off a bit - might improve his power numbers too.

I'll call the Giants to let them know my thoughts.

No need. The FO follows this board regularly (remember the whole thing about hitting Crawdad #2?)...

Should be effective. I don't think we're the only ones that value your opinion, and generally, the Giants organization is very receptive to reasoned improvement. Oh, wait. Your idea has nothing to do with marketing. Never mind. ;)

EDIT: An improved product on the field certainly makes marketing easier. Good thing they check these boards. Thanks, cal.

Hahahaha. Really? I'm not quite sure if that is cool or pathetic. I guess it depends on the quality of his posts. Good reads?

Just normal BS. He was 17 or 18 then. Then he got drafted, still posted now and again.

Also, there were strong indications that Bruce Jenkins used to post there too, as SuperPadre, an over-the-top Bonds hater.

He also had a 106MPH fastball at one point too.

I remember hearing about SuperPadre/Jenkins. I wonder if Bruce is now SF_Envy.....

Feel free to ignore bc I'm almost positive it's been discussed here but how long does bochy stick with huff? I think if he starts him he atleast needs to move him down in the order, there's no reason Nate should be hitting 7th as hot as he's been

I think Huff has about one more week - maybe two (before he starts losing playing time). Beltran coming over might give him some extra time.

Yep, he tacked on 12mph to his 94mph fastball with a simple mechanical change.

It would be nice if the addition of Beltran will take pressure off of Huff so he can actually produce. If not, there is some kid in the system who, rumor has it, knows how to play 1B...
