Dak isn't Aaron Rodgers, never will be. Dak is Alex Smith, albeit a less experienced one. You can win games with them if you surround him with enough talent, but he can't win it by himself. Rodgers, Brady . Those guys can

Dak is not as good as Alex Smith at this point. I am not happy with the play calling as well.

That's 100% true, but if you told me we were gonna hold the Panthers to 16 in their place, I'd have given a standing ovation. This loss is squarely on the offense

Are the panthers really a good Offense? Their WRs are worse than ours. Their OL was more banged up than ours. Other than running the ball Cam did nothing to get the lead in the first half. They basically just used McCaffrey in space against our LBs and safeties and ran Cam. That shouldn't beat a good NFL defense.

I agree. That Carolina offense helped make the secondary look good. We will see next week.

Seriously, what was Witten going to do today to change things around? Another three 6 yard passes wasn't going to work. Witten would have been good on the last few drives, but we were good on those drives. To me we looked like a team that played very little in the preseason. Lee sucked in the first half. Zeke didd very little in the first half. Dak did very little in the first half. The missed tackles all game killed us. We made McCaffrey look like Gale Sayers. We let Cam fake us out. The penalties were killers. The play calling was baffling. Gregory going down hurt. The kickers miss was HUGE.

True. My point is a Witten (like) TE plus Frederick and our starting left guard would have made a big difference in blocking allowing a better running game resulting in play action passes being a little more effective.

That is very disconcerting. Don't wanna be that guy that says "fire the coaching staff" after one game, but I really hope Linehan has a short leash this year.

Yeah, agree, but I also don't want to see a continuation of the same issues discussed all last year that we were told were gong to change. I've still never heard that Linehan was ever allowed to implement his Offense here. When he got here we were told he was going to run Garrett's Offense. I still haven't heard that is not still the case. The play calling was very disappointing today, but I'm not sure bringing in someone else to call the same vanilla plays will make a difference. This team will struggle when we start with poor field position unless we do something differently. It also seemed clear the lack of preseason snaps hurt this team and that is on the braintrust. Marinelli doesn't get a pass either. Panthers ran an even more vanilla offense than us and we still looked completely confused


Next week should tell us a lot. Home game. Not a good defense, but a much more explosive offense if Eli even plays average. WE win next week and we are fine. No reason to panic after one game. Was just a frustrating game to watch.

I watched the Ravens game. Buffalo is bad, like real bad, no doubt, but the Ravens were also very good. They were making plays on both sides of the ball. Flacco is going to be much better this year, he seems a little revitalized after a long Super Bowl hangover.

No panic here. This is a talented football team and they will be competitive this year once they find their stride. My concern is this not the right coaching staff to push this group over the top. I have felt that way for a while. But we are here now with this staff so we will see what is in store the rest of the way.
