It looks like Evan Brown has settled in nicely at RG.

He has and some team is going to sign him in the next off-season. Will that be the Lions or someone else? He's 26 and Vaitai is 29 and the latter would free up 6.5M in 2023 if he doesn't heal with the back surgery. Brown will more than likely receive an offer in the 4-6M range per year from someone who is in need of a Center/Guard combo player.

Surprisingly, Brown's run blocking grade is slightly better this year compared to last year - 64.3 to 62.9, and his pass blocking grade is barely replacement level this year compared to last year - 49.6 to 72.4.

A simple “You we’re right.” would suffice. Weird how that’s so difficult for you.

"You" weren't right about anything. You mentioned prior to the last draft that some schlub's comment you read stated that the Lions were going to use that 1st round pick from the Rams to draft Wan'Dale.

If we never again pass the ball Stenberg will be elite!

He hasn't learned enough in pass blocking to stay in the league outside of being on a team's P.S.

He's so much better playing LG than he is at RG - minus the fact he's still horrible at pass blocking.

He's 76th out 77 at the OG position.

Get rid of all of them. Keep Skipper. Bring in another swing player and a starting RG if Big V goes.

Skipper at LG worked for those two games. I wouldn't like to see either of Nelson or Skipper back outside of there isn't anyone better for the price.

Ebinna Eze is so raw and maybe Awosika needs more time to develop.

BH and DC seem to favor Nelson for whatever reason. Maybe Nelson is looked at as being the lessor of the evil.

A good enough reason to use those first 3-4 picks in 2023 on the defensive side of the ball.

When anyone wants to use the excuse regarding Cap Space and how it almost always increases, Fox will add 2.3M more to next year's cap.

Nearly 95+% of all players contracts increase in the following years cap. Goff's goes down by a half million and he is the rarity.

Lions could add to their cap space by releasing or waiving
Goff 20.65M
Brockers 11M
Romeo Okwara 7.5M ............... if he's not healthy or no longer needed. He's a replication of what Paschal and Cominsky bring to the table
Hockenson 9.4M ............ maybe trade possibility after new league year 2023
C. Harris 4M ........... either he or one of the Okwara's won't be here next year
J. Okwara 1.3M
Stenberg 1M

2023 Total Cap Liabilities: $208,289,498
  • Top 51: $207,994,946
  • Team Cap Space: $19,862,446
  • Offense: $123,696,568
  • Defense: $80,733,378
  • Special: $3,565,000

Contracted Players (36 total)

Lions' rookie pool cap resources for 2023 16.5M
Practice Squad pool 2023 4M
I.R. replacement players 6M

And yet we as fans complain about players playing poorly when everyone who does play in a game is putting their life at risk.

Saivion Smith does not remember what he was trying to say, only that he was trying to say something, and nothing was coming out of his mouth.

The injury, he said, was "the scariest thing of my life."

"I couldn’t even think about, you feel me, nothing except for like, 'Damn, am I ever going to be able to play again and can I walk again and talk again?'" Smith said Wednesday in his first public comments since the injury. "All this (expletive), and all that was going through my head within like 20 seconds. But I feel fine now, so thank God."

Smith said he could not talk or move any of his limbs when he collapsed to the ground after trying to jam Patriots tight end Hunter Henry on the second defensive play of his first start with the Lions.

"I could see everything, I could hear everything, I saw my teammates on the sideline," Smith said. "I saw everybody, but I just couldn’t move. I was trying to extend my arms, move my legs, I couldn’t do nothing for like 20 seconds."

Regarding Skipper, I'd add that last week he had 8 defensive snaps, all in the 6 OL package. Most of those 8 snaps ended horribly. His PFF grade suggests that the horrible outcomes were his fault.

I'd be pleased if they scrapped the 6 OL package. They're doing fine with 5.

Kamu Grugier-Hill asked for and was given his outright release from the Texans. He was the leading tackler on the team last year. I wonder if the Lions will sign him. Seems like we could use a LB that can tackle.

Brockers and Stenberg would save 12M and would probably make the team better by their subtraction. Although maybe Brockers can coach next year instead of taking up a roster spot.
