There is a lot to cleanup from today...ridiculous amount of holding calls, DBs being basically useless (PI and allowing the catch??? WTF?), did I mention the DBs were horrible? Not thrilled with the clock management but fortunately, Saleh was much much worse.

It's a road win in December against a team that needed it...I'll fricking take it.

Our DBs got lit up by some shitty WRs. Porter Jr. should be our first pick and Ringo should be our second pick. I am sick of these guys. We damn well better pick at least one of them.

As much as I want Carter or Anderson I would not be upset about this scenario either.

5 sacks in like 40 snaps. I don't care if he's not great in run defense.

Until Houston is solely and completely responsible for giving up huge runs to Aaron Jones or Dillon or Justin Fields. I believe you might rethink your thoughts then.

He was displaced from ILB - Sam - Stack even at Jackson State not to mention Florida Gators for a reason. Considering he was a 6th round pick, I'll take pass rush specialist every Sunday until he learns to be a solid run defender.

I am getting tired of seeing JJ make business decisions. He constantly stops playing when a teammate is making a tackle instead of helping and he even stepped out of bound on the INT for no reason.

You see that exact type of play from Mike Hughes, Amani Oruwariye, Will Harris and even Okudah twice yesterday. It happens unfortunately. The rebuild is still ongoing and hopefully free agency and the draft can help, but remember it takes a year or two for drafted CB to come into form. You won't find one damn draftable CB in 2023 that plays like Sauce Gardner right out of the gate week in week out.

Garrett Wilson was easily one of the top 3 wideouts in last year's draft. There's no shame in that. CB will occasionally struggle and yes, a fix is needed but not two early picks on rookie CB no matter how well regarded they are. Remember how most fans stated Okudah was a bust. It's now year three and he is beginning to show progress. maybe it was the Patricia and maybe not. It took Slay until mid-way in his 3rd year to display his potential.

Not Mahomes, Not Allen, but....... I'll take a somewhat pedestrian game here and there. TB12 had a handful of these type of games per year with the Patriots.

Ben Johnson definitely needs to clean this part of his in-game play calling - The 2nd down and long automatic run play. It's reminiscent of Jim Bob Cooter and Loe Lombardi.

@Old Lion What. I don't receive a reminder that Badgley missed an FGA yesterday and Riley Patterson was 2/2 from 33 and 48 yards respectively.

Damn.

I'm thoroughly disappointed in you.

A decent CB would have 3 pro bowls and 2 1st team all pro teams by his 3rd year

I hate to admit it, but Will Harris is tougher than all of them. Okudah is salvageable. Jacobs might break his bad habits and develop into a better player but I would rather have him as a backup until he proves otherwise.

I dont expect Badgely to be accurate from 55. DC made the wrong call there anyway. A FG would not ice the game so there was no reason to try it. Better off going for it on 4th and 5.

I don't think your set of standards equates to reality and not even for any 1st round draft pick which are assumed to be ready to play.

Your term of decent is nothing more than a player who's play standard is acceptable. Though I've been wrong many a times.

I'll let you sort out as to why the majority of these 1st round drafted CB haven't been elected to even one Pro Bowl by the end of year 3.

1 and 1/4 games played over the last two weeks by Okudah doesn't cement him as being questionable going forward. We still need to see where he's at the remainder of this season and the entirety of next season before you can truly assess his play as he missed his entire 2nd year.

Okudah played pretty damn well those first 10-12 games. He may have very well been suffering the aftereffects of the flu. Players even the so-called great ones will have a handful of bad games during a season. I'm not excusing him for his poor play, however there may be an outlier as to the why he played poorly. The flu can drain a normal person's energy for a week or two.

Will Harris has his ups and downs too. He can provide as an emergency replacement player even if it's for whatever term of a remaining season, but he is not a player that should be deemed full season starter capable. He's nearly the Don Carey version at times but somewhat better in a limited role.

Correct for now. He's one of the more aggressive DB's the Lions have and working the nickel might be his best position. He still has starter potential, but that possibility is dwindling quickly and coming off ACL surgery sometimes leaves a mental hindrance in ability that doesn't go away completely that first year back. I see it from the way Jameson Williams runs his routes with hesitancy and even for Romeo.

Most medical studies will show that a player will be physically ready to perform but it's getting beyond the mental assuredness of that can take some time to reacclimate for some. Whether it's an ACL tear or even an Achilles tear, it's still 18-24 months after the original injury before an athlete truly feels 100% physically healthy.

I kind of like this idea, but I don't believe that either Porter Jr., or Ringo are worthy of a top 5 pick. Though they both might conceivably end up near top 10.

You might want to entertain the idea of spending one of the two 2nd round picks on a nickel CB. there's also the possibility of entertaining the thought of using a pick on one of these Big Slot/Nickel Back safeties, but I don't believe Holmes values that position quite that high or values selecting two DB's that soon.
