What I wanna know is WHY THE FUCK didn't he just leave O'Day in?? Oh that's right, always gotta put in the 'closer.'

Guaranteed sweep with Verlander tomorrow...
frick.
Yeah, it's time. You can't worry about hurt feelings anymore. This guy is instilling zero faith every time he comes in to pitch.
The way I see it, it's the same issue as Jim Johnson last year: We have someone who can hold down a place in the bullpen, but not as a regular closer (since part of the job description is to defend a one-run lead in the 9th inning). Since the performance of relievers can vary widely from time to time, my personal preference is to NEVER have a regular closer even if a team has a dominant reliever-- ideally, the best reliever should be used in high-leverage situations regardless of which inning it is.
A lot of truth to this. This is just one of those seasons where maybe we don't have one "closer". Committee might be the way to go.
Except NO managers do this nowadays, Buck being one of the worst offenders.
All of this, and we should be talking about Jimenez's amazing start...
It's really a damn shame for him too. This is the Jiminez we all hoped for when we signed him and this is his reward tonight. Really a damn shame.
Atleast the Yanks and Sox are losing. Still... this one hurts.
Dont sweat it guys, it sucks to lose that way but Jimenez is getting it together and they'll figure out the closer thing. Maybe they can get to Verlander and Gausman can keep them in the game. Tough series against a tough team but at least the Mets are helping.
Who do you guys have going against JV? He'll walk atleast four, bank on it. JV that is. Without the overpowering fastball he nibbles, like Max used to.
