NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports "at least two teams" are willing to offer Kirk Cousins a three-year, fully guaranteed contract.

He adds another team is willing to offer a "nearly fully guaranteed" contract. RapSheet does not mention any names, but the Broncos, Vikings, Jets, and Cardinals are all safe bets. Cousins reportedly plans to take a few visits before making his final decision, so we likely will not know his destination until late this week.

Other owners have to be absolutely losing their shit if this goes down (fully guaranteed). It is setting the precedent for other QBs and eventually maybe all positions and players.

I asked related questions in another thread and here they are (slightly modified):

1. Has Kirk Cousins been priced out of his worth?

2. Besides market forces, Why would a team want to pay Cousins when the cheaper and longer term option would be the draft or keeping their own in the case of Minnesota?

3. Beyond the obvious answer "he will get signed" what happens if Kirk goes unsigned?

4. Are we now at that point where a guy like Cousins will serve as the first casualty in the NFL's attempt to reign in QB's salaries or are we there yet? (Rogers will surely command far more than what Kirk will get and won't sign until after Kirk does)

5. Same question from #3....Collusion NFL style anyone?

I don't know why Denver decided to go with Keenum, but maybe this and his price tag were instrumental in their decision.

Kirk Cousins 2017 season vs. Case Keenum’s 2017 season

Player............
Att..... Comp..... %..... Yards..... TD's..... Int..... Sacks

Kirk Cousins.... 540..... 347....... 64.3.... 4.093...... 27....... 13....... 41

Case Keenum.. 481..... 325....... 67.6.... 3,547...... 22........ 7........ 22

For the record here are their career matchups:

Kirk Cousins career stats vs. Case Keenum’s career stats

Player.............
Att....... Comp...... % .......Yards....... TD's....... Int....... Sacks

Kirk Cousins..... 2,096.... 1,372...... 65.5..... 16,206....... 99.......... 55........ 106

Case Keenum... 1,258..... 779........ 61.9....... 8,771...... 46........... 27......... 71

I don’t think so. I don’t believe KC has nearly as many suitors as he would have liked or maybe thought he would (because of his asking price and terms), but someone is still going to make him the highest paid QB. Now will the market affect his price some?? Perhaps. We will see.

@skinsdad62 I love Brees, and I understand your sentiment in him being a possible option. He is still playing well despite Father Time. But odds are he will resign in New Orleans short term unless some team is willing to well exceed what they are going to offer. If you are screaming at us for taking an “aging” 34 year old QB, then how would signing a 39 yo Brees to an expensive 1 year or maybe 2 year deal make sense? Because we get to keep our lucrative 3rd round pick? Unless a true contender comes s calling (say..Minnesota) with some serious jack, I just don’t see NO letting him walk.

I think that Skinsdad was either being sarcastic or responding in frustration. At least I hope that is the case. As you mentioned Brees isn't going anywhere & even if so if the Skins signed him it would been for insane $$ & lots of folks here would be protesting very, very loudly.

I know that Brees is better but funny how some folks think he still has a few good years left while several here feel that Smith has absolutely no shot next season - too funny.

It only takes 1 dad. Likely the Vikes left as the only team standing for Cousins. Jets draft their QB or possibly sign Bridgewater.

Schefty tweeted that he's signing with Minnesota and it'll be a 3 year, fully guaranteed contract. WOW!

1. Fully guaranteed deal. You don't see that in the NFL very often.

2. If he signs for 28M/year, we're talking 84M guaranteed. It's basically the transition tag amount. BUT, it's still significantly less than the 30M/year we all kept hearing about.

Smith got 71M guaranteed and Cousins will get 28Mx3yrs=84M.

I.e. Cousins' cap number is almost certainly 28M every year.

We're still waiting to see what Smith's contract details are.
