That was my belief from the minute it was signed. Good news though. I lost track of what we had left. I wonder if BQ is saving extra space in an efort to trade down and acquire more draft picks?

I think about half of that amount is reserved for draft picks, but I don't know that for sure. So closer to 11-17(after Tulloch). Enough for one real good player or 2-3 of solid vets I think.

I think about half of that amount is reserved for draft picks,

I was dead wrong on receiving TB's 5th rd pick this year for last years George Johnson trade as they swapped picks in 2015. that deal is done.

NE had traded for Michael Williams in Aug. 2015 and was to award a draft pick then thought of as a 7th rd. no final word on that. nice job Mayhew you couldn't wrap that up either.

Here's a look at this years 10 draft picks and the total cost( $7,080,311) for those current picks

Draft - Over the Cap

#16 1st rd.
#46 2nd rd.
#95 3rd round comp pick for Suh
#111 4th rd.
#150 5th rd.
#168 5th rd. 2015 trade with Den
#176 5th round comp pick for Fairley
#193 6th rd.
#204 6th rd. 2015 trade of Seisay to Sea
#233 7th rd.

Never thought we'd have so many 5ths leftover with Lewand gone.

Lions signed DB Johnson Bademosi, formerly of the Browns, to a two-year, $4.5 million contract.

The deal is worth a maximum of $6 million. Bademosi has not fared well in his defensive playing time to this point, but he is an excellent special teamer and has experience at both corner and safety. He also won't turn 26 years old until the late summer.

James Starks would be a nice addition.

Free agent LT Russell Okung has scheduled visits with the Lions and Giants.

Okung is serving as his own agent, which almost never pays off for NFL players. His market has been silent to this point, which is surprising for by-far the premier left tackle available in free agency. Okung would be an especially good fit in Detroit, allowing the Lions to move Riley Reiff to right tackle. Reports indicate Okung's first free agent visit will be to the G-Men.

This is awesome! I was trumping for Okung to replace Sackus on the CBS boards over taking Suh. Clearly Suh has been a better player to this point but we still might land Okung 5 years later after Suh bolted. Looks like things came full circle.

The injury history with him is scary. I've always liked his play when he was on the field. Keeping him on the field is the hardest it seems. BQ does a game heavy incentive contract much like some others he's done. I'd be fine with this move. It would surely keep the draft defensive early.

Greetings, Lion faithful. Just saw an article on ESPN about how the Steelers might be interested in signing DE Jason Jones away from Detroit; what's the scoop on this guy? What could we expect of him, if he actually signed with Pittsburgh?

IMO he has was a solid rotational guy and nothing more. He played end and moved inside to tackle at times. You guys running a 3-4 base IMO he would only play outside.

Ah, I see, figured he'd probably rotate in and whatnot. Well shoot, I wouldn't mind it if we got him, he's gotta be better than Jarvis frickin' Jones

Agree with Gandy. He is a guy who will give you some depth. Nothing spectacular, but he won't be a liability when he is out there. He gave the Lions some quality minutes and isn't too bad at getting after the QB.

Lions resigned Mullbach to LS again. They also signed Crezdon Butler.

I like this kid Butler but he still needs work. I think he will surprise if given the opportunity. He played well in that half game he came in for last year.

Mullbach is no surprise. He will be LS for us until his arms fall off.

Fuller is also a ST ace surprisingly and 600K is bug dust.

No one carries a clipboard like Dan-O, LOL. We will most likely draft a QB at some point in this years draft to challenge Matt in a couple years.

That's the part I believe he brings from Billy's thoughts. Getting a mid round guy to constantly develop behind your starter. At least I'm hoping he does.

Did you see any terms on Dan O? Saw Fuller is already on the OTC page. I was hoping Dan O wasn't over one million, or at least no guarantees within...

Might be a better indicator as to what BQ is doing with the backup spot.

Lions signed S Rafael Bush, formerly of the Saints, to a one-year contract "worth up to" $2.4 million.

If he can stay healthy, Bush should be able to compete for a starting role in the secondary, but staying healthy has been an issue. Bush spent almost all of 2015 on injured reserve with a pectoral tear and ended 2014 on injured reserve with a broken leg. He will turn 29 in May.

BQ has been making some nice, under the radar signings this off-season. Just what I was hoping for.
