Braves acquired RHP Jay Jackson from the Giants for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Jackson was designated for assignment last Friday after the Giants picked up his 2022 option earlier in the month. The 34-year-old posted a solid 3.74 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 28/12 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings at the major-league level this past season. He has a chance to be a useful bullpen piece.
Angels signed LHP Aaron Loup to a two-year, $15 million contract with a $7.5 million option for 2024.
He'll make $7.5 million each of the next two seasons and the buyout on his option is $2 million. Loup had to settle for a minor league contract a couple years ago and now gets $17 million even as he'll turn 34 next month. He earned it by putting up a 0.95 ERA and 57/16 K/BB ratio over 56 2/3 innings for the Mets in 2021.
I thought the Mariners were going to be aggressive but so far have they done anything other than being interested in a few players? I'm afraid they will go all in on Suzuki and sit on their hands during his month of negotiations then lose out on him like they did with Ohtani and most of the good players will be gone. I know, its early. but there's something weird about this team every year.
