Eric Winston - T - Cardinals

Cardinals agreed to terms with RT Eric Winston on a one-year contract.

The top offensive tackle left on the street is finally off the board. Although the 29-year-old Winston has been released in each of the last two offseasons, he brings 103 NFL starts to the table and was a top-nine right tackle in Pro Football Focus' grades while with the Chiefs last year. He'll start at right tackle, allowing Bobby Massie to move inside to right guard. Nate Potter will enter a camp duel with consistently disappointing Levi Brown for the starting left tackle job. The Cardinals' offensive line is still a bottom-five unit, but they got better by adding Winston.

John Abraham - DL - Cardinals

Cardinals signed DE/OLB John Abraham, formerly of the Falcons, to a two-year contract.

Abraham, 35, visited the Cardinals Wednesday, and they had a contract offer out to him later that night. After missing several games due to injury while with the Jets early in his career, Abraham has missed just two games over the last six seasons. With 122 career sacks, he's the league's active leader. Abraham is easily the Cardinals' top edge rusher, and his addition may be the final nail in the coffin of OLB O'Brien Schofield. The Cardinals may limit his snaps a bit, but Abraham will be on the field for every key pass-rushing situation.

Sedrick Ellis - DL - Bears

DT Sedrick Ellis has told the Bears he intends to retire.

Ellis signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Bears in June and was expected to serve as interior depth on the defensive line. He didn't show for camp. The early retirement caps a busted NFL career for Ellis, who was billed as an impact pass rusher when the Saints took him seventh overall in the 2008 draft. The USC product finishes his career with just 12.5 sacks across five seasons.

@RapSheet:

I’m told Visanthe Shiancoe’s deal with #Ravens is for 1-year at $940,000. Minimum deal. My guess is Shiancoe is more than fine with that

Darius Fleming - LB - Free Agent

49ers waived/injured LB Darius Fleming (knee).

Fleming tore his ACL during his rookie minicamp last season and then tore the same ligament again on Monday. The Notre Dame product's career is in jeopardy. The Niners will sign Travis Johnson to take Fleming's place on the 90-man roster.

Packers bringing in Vince Young for a work-out. I think their interest in him is easy to figure out, they need someone in practice to play the role of Kaepernick and RG3.

Charly Martin - WR - Free Agent

49ers waived WR Charly Martin and signed P Colton Schmidt.

With A.J. Jenkins (hamstring) healthy and Austin Collie on board, there's no room for Martin.

Eric Wright - DB - 49ers

49ers signed CB Eric Wright to a one-year contract and placed him on the active/non-football injury list.

Wright was acquired by the 49ers from the Bucs nearly three weeks ago, but he failed his physical and was released. It's not certain what kind of ailment Wright has been dealing with, but he's apparently close to being healthy enough to come in and compete for a job. The Niners lost No. 3 corner Chris Culliver to a torn ACL last week, so Wright has a clearer opening. He'll compete with Tramaine Brock, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Perrish Cox for playing time.
