I'd much rather have Thurmond, but assuming Cook is a reasonable deal, what the hell? Baalke has done a pretty good job identifying CBs to date, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. If it's a longer/pricier deal, though, I'm not going to be very happy.

Not a first-round pick, but Cook does fit Baalke's FA pattern of bringing in high round disappointments. And our scheme places less pressure on CBs than many in the league.

@MaioccoCSN: The Chris Cook signing does not eat much into the 49ers' cap space is not likely to take the place of any other notable free-agent deals.

@RavensInsider: Steve Smith said he had an offer from the San Diego Chargers, Redskins wanted him to visit, Seattle very interested, too

Let's just say I'm glad he's a Raven.

I wonder how much money Nicks signed for. Hope he can stay healthy.

Hopefully Baalke is having coffee with Thurmond. Coffee is for closers

17s Nicks' one-year deal with the Colts has a base value of $3.5 million, with upside for more.

Good deal for the Colts. If Wayne is able to come back from his injury, Colts will have a good trio of receivers. That certainly makes Luck happy.

I'm sure it's protected against suspension, but that's a lot to give a guy who is one failed test from a LONG suspension.

Huh. Not a bad move for them, depending on the money. I'll be interested to see what he gets. He might regret not taking the Niners 4/$16 million offer.

@AdamSchefter: Former 49ers CB Tarell Brown reached agreement on a 1-year, $3.5M fully guaranteed contract with Raiders.
