Kind of amusing how we pick players from Super Bowl winners. First Jacobs and Manningham, now Boldin and possibly Reed. I don't think them winning the Super Bowl is why we pick them up, just funny how it works out.

The way Pozz described Jake Long, he seems to have Tony Boseli written all over him. I don't see how a huge contract is going to be god for his health; they usually have the opposite effect.

So I hope the Rams sign him. :)

Ian Rapoport just reported on the air that the Packers are still negotiating with Greg Jennings. The Vikings (previously mentioned) and Colts are also possibilities.

Forgive me if I get this wrong, but after the Smith deal becomes official tomorrow we'd have 12 Million under the cap. Is that right? Accounting for the Williams extension and Boldin's 6 mil that leaves us close to 5 million under. Someone has got to be getting cut or restructured tonight. To be in play for Sean Smith we need 7-8 mil. Ed Reed 3-4 mil.

Jeff Darlington:

I ran into @NFL agent @davidcanter earlier. He's working the phones on CB Sean Smith's behalf. Keep eyes on San Fran, KC and Philadelphia.

I expect that Manningham is gone. Maybe Whitner as well.

Sean Smith would have to give us a friendly price for his first year and gain a larger sum the following years of his contract. Paraag knows his business. I'm sure he will figure something out.

As the Seahawks reconfigure cap and budget following today's blockbuster trade for Percy Harvin, they're shopping return man Leon Washington

More Ed Reed chatter: #49ers DC Vic Fangio was #Ravens assistant from 2006-10. Like everyone, speaks highly of Reed.

Well yeah...to you guys in the media! C'mon, Eric. Sheesh.

McKinnie declares no discounts for the Ravens | ProFootballTalk

“They already got me at the discount last season,” McKinnie said, via NFL.com. “They bought a Maserati, they need to pay for the insurance.”

The fact he showed up the size of a Winnebago caused them to put regular gas instead of premium in him this summer, giving him a $1 million pay cut primarily because they could.

GREAT, GREAT response. Thank you! Said beautifully.

Chris Gamble is going to retire. :(

Was hoping he'd be a decoy for some other CB needy team.

Signing bonus with low first year base. Player gets real money up front but cap dollars are spread. Back load the end with large base amounts and fool the lemmings with an eye popping total. The NFL way.

Ian Rapoport:

The #Cardinals have re-signed S Rashad Johnson, according to a source. It's a three-year contract. Was Adrian Wilson's backup.

Man what a day! If we get Boldin, Reed and Smith then we are looking poised for another run. That most likely means that Whitner and Manningham are gone. I'd love it if we could get Boldin to restructure his contract.

Our cap can't be looking good right now though, kind of worries me. We basically have 0 until the Smith trade.

Agreed. I don't pretend to know much about these things, but that seems to be the way of things with this FO. Marathe has done a great job from what i can tell.

I think the team actually values MM quite highly. I would bet that Whitner, Goodwin are gone with Rogers either taking a significant pay cut or being cut as well.
