Tanev to Leafs, 6 years/$27 million. That bodes well for the Kings and Roy unless that is completely off the table. Tanev and he are similar and the AAV is $4.5 million.

Guentzel signs in Tampa, 7 years/$63 million, $9 million AAV. Wowza. Tells me Stamkos is looking huge money.

Martinez signs a 1 year in Chicago but no AAV listed. Kind of ironic that the dude who ended their run for a back to back in OT signs there 10 years later to provide veteran leadership. Probably wanted to be close to home in Michigan too.

Predators going the FL route and hiring guns all over, craziness. Also if Stamkos o lt went for 4 years/$32 million, I was way off on my estimate. Curious to see the structure of the contract and what the last 2 years looks like.

Roy to Capitals, 7 years/$38.5 million. He can join his buddy PLD again.

Arvidsson to Edmonton, 2 years/$8 million. That's a HUGE risk with his injury history. Guess if you can't beat em in the first round join em.

Anyone else feel like Blake is swinging and missing on a lot of the FA's? It feels like they are a middle of the road type of team and no one wants to come here with him at the helm. I dunno maybe I am getting too old and bitter at this point. LOL

Wouldn't be surprised if Agents stear their clients away from CA teams, across all sports, simply due to the tax consequences, and costs of living...

I think we have seen it in MLB with the Giants. No big names wanted to go there due to the homeless situation along fearing for the safety of their families.

I just hope Blake doesnt just start throwing money at mediore players just because he has some money to throw.

I don't think that's off the wall at all. Dumbo built a winner and winning culture, initially during his rebuild no premiere UFAs wanted to come here. Then over time that culture flipped and players were happy to come to LA because they had a chance to win.

That stuff is important to professional athletes, Blake hasn't done a good job of that and the Kings are a middling team.

I'd think twice too.

Correction, Roy 6 years/$34.5 million ($5.75 million AAV).

Damn, no way Blake could pay that.

He fine as a 3rd/4th line guy, sure he got 20g/20a playing with McJesus and dirty dri.....expect maybe 1/2 that in LA. 2.4 isnt a lot and 2.6 for Jeanot ....b6 is at least gonna have some hits

Right now the Kings are in line to lead the league in penalty minutes. Jeannot is a good pick up and Edmundson meh. Liked him back in St Louis years.

1, 2 and 3 seasons too late. I think they are a slightly better PO team but i think they struggle to make the PO and this is still a team that will be buried by the McJesuses in the PO

Kings considered losers in FA. Color me shocked. Per TA:

Joel Edmundson, Los Angeles Kings

Contract: $3.8M x four years
Surplus value: -$2.9M per year

Back in 2019, this might have been a fine deal. But in the year 2024, it feels completely unjustifiable.

Edmundson was OK last year and had a solid bounce-back season after dealing with injuries for a bit — but OK just means he looked like a third-pairing guy rather than completely unplayable. Over a four-year term, the Kings might see that version of Edmundson sooner rather than later. The 31-year-old is unlikely to age well and already doesn’t look like the No. 4/5 he’s being paid to be.

These guys also said Edmonton got a steal in Arvidsson for 2 years/$8 million to be that winger Draisaitl didn't have. We will wait and see but I wouldn't be surprised to see him hurt by December.
