Both Dereck Rodriguez (Twins) and Dusten Knight (Rays) got their contracts purchased today. It got me thinking, how many former Giants (played on the team and/or were in the farm system) are in the big leagues currently (active roster only)? Well, here's the list:
Diamondbacks - Madison Bumgarner, Mark Melancon
Braves - Will Smith, Alex Dickerson, Adam Duvall
Red Sox - Christian Arroyo
Cubs - Drew Smyly
White Sox - Kyle Crick
Reds - Hunter Strickland, Aramis Garcia
Rockies - Ty Blach, Ashton Goudeau, Connor Joe, Kris Bryant
Astros - Jose Siri
Angels - Matt Duffy
Dodgers - Tyler Anderson, Hanser Alberto
Marlins - Steven Okert
Brewers - Trevor Gott, Jandel Gustave, Andrew McCutchen
Twins - Dereck Rodriguez
Yankees - Jonathan Loaisiga, Wandy Peralta
Athletics - Dany Jimenez, Adam Oller, Stephen Vogt
Phillies - Zack Wheeler
Pirates - Anthony Banda, Heath Hembree, Jose Quintana, Chris Stratton, Bryan Reynolds
Padres - Pierce Johnson
Mariners - Sergio Romo, Tom Murphy
Rays - Dusten Knight, Matt Wisler
Rangers - Charlie Culberson
Blue Jays - Kevin Gausman, Tyler Heineman
Nationals - Hunter Harvey, Lucius Fox

Fox made the opening day lineup for the Nats? I would guess he is out of options?

Wow, he really fell off the cliff.

He is 0-6 with a sac RBI. msg just came a little in his shorts.

I was shocked he made the roster. I guess the Nationals didn't want to risk losing him without seeing him play. Probably going to be a May 1st roster casualty, if he lasts that long.
And yes, he really fell off the prospect cliff, to the extent that it shocked me he even made the big leagues.

Wouldn't want a new thread for this and run the risk of upsetting folks.

Tony Watson officially retired today. I was never able to figure out why he wasn't more in demand.

Yup. he was always a huge discount, but still couldn’t find work. Makes no sense.

I think it fits this thread just fine.
Best wishes on his next career. The dude was very underrated.

What I don't really know is how filthy his stuff was? Raw talent and eye popping K rates are a big deal these days, regardless of run prevention.

Bryan Reynolds?

Never heard of him.

He doesn’t exist.

I don’t see anything here…

Reyes Moronta got his contract purchased today by the Dodgers. Feeling very conflicted about how successful I want him to be.

If he makes it, it will highlight a real problem in the CBA. The Giants found him, signed him, developed him and got him to the bigs. They invested a lot into him. Them, when it was time for the Giants to actually collect the “profits” from their investment, he gets hurt and is useless for the entirety of his effective time with the org. Now the dogs swoop in and could get all the benefits of the Giants years and years of hard work with the guy. And we may be facing it again with Beede. He has been hurt for much of the time the Giants should have been getting THEIR benefit out of him, but now the clock has run out on him and the Giants will likely lose him just before he finally becomes an effective big leaguer.

I don’t know how to fix this scenario, but it totally blows.

I don't know. I think Beede shows what the Giants could have done with Moronta. And didn't Moronta still have an option year left? I think, if Moronta shows he is fully healthy that the Giants gave up a little too fast on him and they bear the brunt of not reaping those benefits.
