Copied Cobie's post from the other thread (this is a big enough signing that it warrants its own thread)

I would love to have Voracek on my team. He seems to be getting better too.

As long as last year wasn't an anomaly, it's fair.

Kind of surprised he signed it. If he kept up his production until his UFA years he might've been able to get $10 mil on the open market.

That's a fair point, but $66 million guaranteed is tough to turn down versus the possibility of catching a rut on some bad ice next season and tearing an ACL.

I guess.

Great production last year and could be a great deal if he keeps getting better. The only concern I have is 8.25 per season for someone that never scored 25 goals in a season.

It wasn't. Kid is for real.

Looking back at the Carter trade the Jackets sent Jake and the pick the Flyers used on Couturier in the deal.

12.55m cap hit between them now. They are both great players, and I'd love either one (or both). But... better Philly than us at that amount. We could never have afforded them.

I like that signing. Odd saying 8 years is a good term, but if he keeps playing the way he is, it'll be great for Philly.

Awful deal here, over 8 million dollars a year is to much for him. I think deals like this are going to cause another lockout when the current CBA is up.

Phil Kessel signs 8 year, $64 million contract at age 25 after putting up 185 goals and 379 pts in 504 GP playing alongside Tyler Bozak, putting up four 30+ goal seasons and two 35+ goal seasons. Contract is called crazy and untradeable.

Jakub Voracek signs 8 year, $66 million contract at age 25 after putting up 124 goals and 372 pts in 531 GP playing alongside one of the best centres in the game, putting up one 23 goal season. Contract is called fair, earned and deserved.
