ya i like it too.. as long as downie doesn't have his patented brain farts, he's a pretty quality player

plus i still loathe talbot for his time as penguin.. so i'm glad he's off the team.. he was pretty useless so far this season

Really think you guys win this deal. He's a pest to play against, adds some toughness alongside Simmonds in your lineup.

Maybe the Avalanche are looking to acquire Miller from Buffalo now?

i dont know if that's necessarily true.. i would think they got downie to play on the 3rd line.. i would think raffl is probably more likely to go down than rinaldo.. hopefully rosehill is the odd man out though, he's useless

What has Rinaldo done? As far as Im concerned he takes dumb penaltys and cant score to save himself.
Rosehill is useless as well but at least he is a bonifide enforcer.

i dont fully disagree w/ you.. rinaldo brings some energy and skates hard every shift though.. he has taken a bunch of penalties this year though, i thought he had that figured out last year

apparently downie was playing on the top line with duchene and oreilly in colorado.. maybe he plays with giroux and lecavalier? that'd be a fun line to watch i think

Downie has more of a scorer’s touch and is a winger who can be versatile enough to play on any of the top three lines. He has good hands and makes a nice pass, which could fit in well with Claude Giroux and Vinny Lecavalier – especially since he played with Lecavalier in Tampa – where Downie had his biggest success.

This just strikes me as Homer doing something for somethings sake. Nothing against Downie or Talbot. I do think Downie could be a top 6 with the current mix on the Flyers. He has experience with VinnyL and that could have played into the trade as well.

It does really leave the door wide open that something else is coming and this is just the first step. It also leaves the door open for Raffl to stick around a bit longer.

I think this is a precursor to another move, probably one that will address the lack of puck movement on D. Rumors are that the Flyers are now talking with St Louis and Edmonton. If I had to guess, the primary names would be Shattenkirk or Justin Schultz.
