Doob's view:
The Doobster is very pleased with the way the Pens have started out. We've gotten great contributions from all 4 forward lines, our defense looks great, & our goaltending has been outstanding. I'm guessing that we'll be starting Jeff Zatkoff in net against the Panthers since he's expected to start either against the Florida Panthers on Friday or Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, and the Panthers represent a much weaker offensive team. Just makes sense to have him start against the Panthers IMO. Meanwhile, I expect the Panthers to start Jacob Markstrom considering Tim Thomas got lit up against the St. Louis Blues and then pulled his groin against the Flyers.
I expect the Pens to prevail 4-2

The Doobster just realized that Jacob Markstrom will be in net tonight against the Lightning so chances are he won't be playing against us. Not sure if they'll go with Tim Thomas who's suffering from a groin strain or Scott Clemmensen, probably Scott Clemmensen, but we'll know for sure tomorrow.

Pretty obvious from this game that we should start Zatkoff against the Panthers & MAF against the Lightning,

Yeah it would make much more sense to have Zatkoff in against the Panthers.
Wonder if Engelland will play tonight this is a good game to get him in because Goc should not be on the top of the goal list for any team ever at any point of any season.

I wouldn't mind calling up the entire WBS Penguins to play this game while the NHL Pens get ready for the Lightning.

LOL yeah I know. They could have pre salary cap era now they would all have to go on LTIR.


BTW...speaking of WBS game one I noticed Ruopp and Dumoulin didn't play. Are both hurt and if not I am surprised they were scratches.

Not sure about Ruopp but I did hear that Dumoulin had some sort of injury. They play Hersey tomorrow, hope to at least see Dumoulin play in that game.

I don't blame the goalie for this one. He's just an AHLer making $525k. I think the Pens just played really bad in this game. Very poor execution tonight. It's obvious they overlooked the Panthers. Understandable considering the Doobster even overlooked the Panthers.
