Over the last 40 years OOC (regular season) I count
26 final top 10 opponents (5 of those were national champs)
18 more final ranked opponents.
I'm willing to entertain claims that UF's OOC scheduling is weak. Just show me your team has played more than UF over this time. Show us your work.
Gators AD would welcome 2-for-1 series vs. UCF
In this article, the AD states that "in the right situation" he would schedule games against UCF. He never elaborates what the right situation is, but also states that "We haven't had a spot where we thought this made sense at this point".
He also states, "We do home-and-homes with like FSUs and Power 5 leagues," Stricklin said. "We haven't done any home-and-homes with non-Power 5 teams. I don't think we would start that. But I'd love to schedule [UCF] in a game."
Not in the 70's or 80's either.
Since UF joined the SEC in 1933 they have only played
33 reg season road games against OOC schools from outside
the state of Florida.
Under Dabo Swinney here's our OOC opponent's final poll ranking:
2017 - #12 Auburn
2016 - #22 Auburn
2015 - #12 Notre Dame
2014 - #9 UGA
2013 - #4 South Carolina
2012 - #7 South Carolina
2011 - #8 South Carolina
2010 - #1 Auburn
#22 South Carolina
2009 - #6 TCU
9 seasons, 10 ranked, average final poll ranking 10.3
Florida in the same time span: 9 seasons, 7 ranked OOC opponents, average final poll ranking 11.14
With Texas A&M currently ranked 20th we will likely complete our 10th straight season under Dabo Swinney with a ranked OOC opponent. With Texas A&M again next year and upcoming OOC series against Notre Dame (four games in five years starting 2020), Georgia in the Chick-fil-a Classic, LSU home and home, two more with Notre Dame, a home and home with UGA then a single game vs Notre Dame in 2031 we are pretty much assured of adding to those totals.
Meanwhile Florida will finish for the second consecutive season without a ranked OOC opponent, the third time overall in the same 10 year period. Other than Miami next season in Orlando you are dependent of Taggart turning things around at FSU because there's no other P5 OOC matchup scheduled for Florida thru 2037
9 years. Didn't want to go back further huh? We know why.
UF hasn't scheduled beyond a few years out. So yes, miami and fsu are the only major OOC opponents UF has scheduled because there simply isn't a schedule yet for more than 3 or so seasons. There is no schedule thru 2037 or even close. It would take many many years of UF having no ranked OOC opponent to equal Clemson over the last 40 years considering how far ahead UF is now.
Primarily because it doesn't fucking matter what happened under Zook, Spurrier, Galen Hall or Charlie Pell. I would have limited it to the current coaching staffs but y'all change coaches so much it wouldn't allow for a decent representation so I stuck with our current head coach.
Congrats. You used to play Miami home and home every year along with playing FSU. That ended 31 years ago. Since then you've played them six times, with two of those meetings being in bowls.
But hey.....if you are good with Florida's pussy OOC scheduling methods that's alright with me. I like our aggressive scheduling practices and obviously it works for us considering we'll be making our 4th straight playoff appearance in a couple weeks. How many appearances do y'all have in the playoffs again?
Why should UCF have to settle for whatever shit offer is pushed across the table? They're right to stand their ground. What's wrong with the deal Florida is offering if you're in UCF shoes?

They'll find another P5 opponent to schedule a home and home with. It's not like they haven't played South Carolina and Stanford in recent years, or anything.Standing their ground is fine if they never want to be seriously considered for the playoffs in this format.
Reality is you have to take games like this if you want a shot at the big boys in the regular season.
Florida putting themselves on a pedestal is laughable. UCF, a much smaller program, has soaked up all the spotlight in the state of Florida over the last 2 seasons.Fine, don't accept it. Just keep whining about not even being considered for the playoff in that case. Nobody is going to take them seriously when they play a powder puff schedule that features 0 ranked teams.

Yeah, Florida should probably worry more about the Georgia and Mizzou problem they're going to have for the foreseeable future.Florida doesn't need anything from ucf. Its very much the other way around. If they don't want a 2 for 1 deal then fine. Don't accept it. They'll just get nothing instead. They can enjoy their little cracker jack box 45,000 seat stadium which is falling apart because their built it on the cheap, their cheap tickets and tiki bar and tarps they have to use to try to cover for the fact that they only average about 30,000 fans per game despite the cheap tickets and playing a bunch of cupcakes against whom they earn no respect by beating.
Yeah, Florida should probably worry more about the Georgia and Mizzou problem they're going to have for the foreseeable future.
UCF will keep doing what they're doing and hang out in the top 10, play NY6 Bowl Games, with a fraction of the resources to that of the Gaytors.
Rome wasn't built in a day. Brick-by-brick, UCF continues to grow. Knights clearly live in your head, rent free.*Yawn* UF will keep competing in the best conference in America and will continue to recover from a couple of bad coaching hires.
Mickey Mouse Community College will soon fade back to irrelevance even at their cupcake level. Its what they do.

Nah, you just don't need the recruiting area as much. The USF games in the 2020s has everything to do with Florida's desire to recruit more out of Tampa.Yes they live in our heads so much that we don't think them worthy of a home and home contract.

Don't make this into something its not. Florida has nothing to gain and everything to lose by playing UCF.
South Carolina or Stanford aren't going to be good enough for UCF to make the playoffs. They'll find another P5 opponent to schedule a home and home with. It's not like they haven't played South Carolina and Stanford in recent years, or anything.
