Just for the hell of it I wanted to see if I could track down the listing of his house. The address as far as i could see was never listed in the news reports.

This was either revenge or an insurance job. My thinking is the insurance job would only make sense if he was having trouble selling it. I'm fairly certain this is his house with the link below. Even the section of the house left standing in the fire photos match.

This does not look good. He was having trouble selling this house. Or at the least he was not getting the number he wanted. So we will have to see what the house was insured for.

It is an interesting situation for sure. I don't know McClain's financial situation, but I would hope he is a smart enough guy not to resort to this idiocy. Why would he possibly endanger his playing career by getting caught up in an insurance scam when he stood to make a sizable amount of money this off-season?

I don't know the Alabama real estate market but, the home looks to be considerably overpriced. If he put a reasonable number on the home, he could eventually find a buyer. Looking at the two comps provided on the Zillow listing, my guess is the house would likely sell between 900k-1mil. Why take the risk over a few hundred thousand? It will be interesting to know what the insurance payout is, and whether or not he had upped his coverage anytime recently. McClain is a relatively young guy at 25 years old, and he has already made 20+ million in his career according to Rolando McClain Contract, Salary Cap Details & Breakdowns | Spotrac . He stands to make a little guaranteed money this off-season while landing a potential long term deal. Do you think he would burn his house down for an approx. half million dollar gain?

If McClain did do it, it will be hard to prove unless they catch the actual person who started the fire. McClain has a rock solid alibi on the night in question.

Rolando is a friend of my families and I doubt he had anything to do with this. Yes, he has a shaky past, but that is more about temper, attitude and hanging out with the wrong people. He has fixed many of those troubles and doesn't even set foot in Decatur anymore as a result.

The difference between the value of the house and being able to sell it is minimal. If he was desperate for money(he is not), he could just sell the house cheaper. It makes no sense to do such a thing intentionally for a potentially smaller amount more from the insurance company.

Personally, if I were investigating the case, I'd be looking at his ex-wife and her family/friends.

I definitely don't know anything about the guy's personal life, so I won't speak to that. But I agree with you completely, from a logical stand point it makes no sense for him to burn it down for an insurance payout. i have a little more respect for McClain's intelligence than to think that he did this or commissioned someone else to do it.

Hoping Rolando McClain is a Cowboy next year!
