Probably one of the most lopsided trades in history. They also got that good receiver from Carolina in that deal, didn't they?

Yup, DJ Moore. The Panthers' owner has shown so far that he's the new Dan Snyder of the NFL. At this point I actually feel bad for the 10 Panthers' fans.

Wrong, Moab. Plenty of Bears rags and commentators have made it clear that they have been beating bad teams. So what. That's what you're supposed to do. It's not like the Bears get to choose their opponents. They play who they're scheduled to play and try to take care of business.

The Packers have yet to beat a team with a winning record. Should we get on their case for that? Dumb argument buddy.
Yep. You beat who they put in front of you

What was the reason they traded him. Wasn't he one of their few good players?

To get Bryce Young. Basically the owner wanted to make a splash and get his guy. A non-football guy making football decisions is a recipe for disaster. Tepper should stick to drinking or throwing his drinks at opposing fans and leave the football decisions to the people he hires to make them.

Like Jerry Jones.

Through Week 6...

Fields
106/160 66.3%, 1106 yards, 5 TD, 1 INTs
16 sacks for 124 yards
55 carries for 231 yards, 5 TDs
5 fumbles
Record: 4-2

Williams
130/199 65.3%, 1317 yds, 9 TDs, 5 INTs
20 sacks for 137 yards
25 carries for 169 yards, 0 TDs
3 fumbles
Record: 4-2

But if you just look at the last four weeks:

Fields
76/117 65.0%, 833 yards, 4 TD, 1 INTs
12 sacks for 94 yards
33 carries for 147 yards, 5 TDs
3 fumbles
Record: 2-2
Williams
93/133 69.9%, 1050 yds, 9 TDs, 3 INTs
11 sacks for 68 yards
15 carries for 110 yards, 0 TDs
2 fumbles
Record: 3-1

Caleb is turning into an elite QB, so the fun here is kinda played out.

Fields is turning into a game manager with wheels, which is a pretty good place for him.
We told you that’s who fields is when we traded him away. He can limit turn overs but he can’t let it rip with his arm. If the defense sits back, contains Fields in the pocket without over pursuing, and makes Justin beat them with his arm, he’s going to struggle.

I also wouldn’t call Caleb elite yet. He’s beaten up on nobody 1 win teams. He seems like he’s growing and learning, but I think he’s still got some more peaks and valleys this year. The second half of his schedule is brutal.

Like Jerry Jones.

Current Jerry Jones, but early on Jones actually listened to Jimmy Johnson. That's why I compared him to Dan Snyder as I don't think Dan Snyder ever really listened to his football people, just gave directions on "go sign this guy" and thought that would put money in his pocket. So far Tepper hasn't done the new stadium and F'd over all the fans, but I'm not sure he's not going to do exactly that.

It’s just good to see he has potential and isn’t a bum

This started as a satirical schadenfreude thread, thinking Williams would have an epic rookie meltdown. But he's kept it together even through some rough spots, and looks legit.

Sadly, that means this thread isn't funny any more.

Something tells me that if we go back a few years you'll be saying something about how much better Fields is than Trubisky. It's ok, hope springs eternal
No we weren't.

Fields is better now with a change of scenery but in Chicago many Bears fans were pointing to the above stats.

Chicago starting a 1st round rookie too soon and it not turning out well.

What a tradition. Can't wait to see Caleb in PGH in 3 years.

The thread was an interesting read. Just like the media posters kept saying what a good situation Williams came to, referencing his weapons. Few noted the poor OL and coaching which are more important to a QB's development.

Posters also considered Caleb a done deal in October and lectured others who had questions. Now it looks like those questions had validity.

I still like him as a prospect but it's hardly a done deal. If I were a Bears fan I'd be concerned about his accuracy.
