FWIW
In Kaepernick's final season, he averaged 246 yards from scrimmage (passing + rushing).
Not great by any stretch.
in 2021, there were 16 QB who averaged better.
Keep in mind, Nick Foles was one of the 16 who only started 1 game.
Daniel Jones was only 3 yards better than Kap (on average).
And even Aaron Rodgers was only 17 yards better on average (263).

Maybe this is unfair and even slightly skewed, but there were 69 QB who started games in 2021 and had less than Kap's 246 yards from scrimmage.
I only get 225 yards per game..2241 yds passing, 468 rushing, 2709 yards from scrimmage and 12 games played, is 225.75.

Edited week one, Kaeps played 3 snaps..nor fair to include that week in the '12'..so nevermind

Or was it??? Just not early. The Ridders, Corrals, Willis's.. now have no pressure, can sit and develop, watch and learn, be groomed. Just like back in the day when QB's weren't expected to start year one. I think it was a great year to draft a QB, if you didn't feel the need to start him this year.

Just gotta hope team need/coach on a hot seat doesn't force them into the starting spot, cause these guys look like they need a lot of developing

Very true..
Well, Atlanta has zero expectation of even being competitive, so they should feel no pressure, so starting Ridder, outside of maybe the last few games or whatever, would be a huge mistake.
Ditto for Carolina and Corral.

Now Tennessee and Willis, that might be an issue. Thankfully, between Marriota, Darnold, and Tranny, Tranny should be the most entrenched, and, likely has to do the least, for any team with reasonable playoff expectation..so hopefully, they won't feel the need to go that way

How did you fell about Flacco in 2018?

Honest question, this is the way I see the Willis / Tannehill situation playing out. I don't think it happens for another year, but in 2023 Tranny having a few issues and Willis stepping in as a lesser Lamar Jackson.

Looking now, 2021 for Tannehill was by far the worst of his three years in Tennessee.

2019: 117.5 passer rating, 8.52 adjusted net yards per attempt (led the league in both categories)
2020: 106.5 passer rating, 7.90 ANY/A (top five in both)
2021: 89.6 passer rating, 5.53 ANY/A (bottom half of the league in both)

I hadn't realized how far he'd fallen. Those are back to his Miami numbers. Jumps out as a weak link on an otherwise outstanding 2021 Titans team.

No injuries reported... maybe he started to coast and drift back to bad habits? I have a hunch part of the reason they spent a third-round pick on a QB was to set a fire under him. He's the same age as Stafford and Wilson and several years younger than Rodgers and Ryan; he should have a few years left.

If Willis was good enough to beat Tannehill out for the starting spot, he would've been drafted in the 1st round

Tannehill struggles last season had a lot to do with Henry and AJ Brown having injury issues and missing games. I don't see Willis beating out Tannehill, but with no AJ Brown not sure how Tannehill does this season.

What the hell are they thinking. this guy has shown nothing!
Agree! He has shown nothing. This is about what can you do for me moving forward. Coaches didn’t give him the opportunity and the QB didn’t get him the ball. We will see. The good thing is they have an out after two years, Browns have plenty of cap space the next two years.
The averages are there but will they stay consistent with more volume?

Lamar Jackson was a 1st round pick and about 7000x the prospect Willis is coming out, not really comparable

Lamar v Flacco- Lamar was a 1st round round pick, and there simply are/were more pressure on teams/coaches/gms to play a first round pick than there is/was a #3. And that's without even taking into account the vast differences in what has been forecast as probable outcomes for Lamar, vs the same for these guys. Now if we to go with Flacco/Lamar v Trubs/Pickett..sure, now we're talking more apples to apples, but I fully expect Pickett to be the QB early, if not straight up week 1.

As for Flacco in 2018, that team was built for winning via defense and run game, and coming off a 9-7 year, so playoff expectation were totally reasonable, so my take on Flacco v Lamar was, Flacco should start as long as he doesn't F shit up, but, that if they were to go to Lamar, it wouldn't be quite so terrible, as that is his game, running.

Yeah I agree and I can totally see why they drafted him after less than stellar ‘17 season going 18 TD’s 13 INT’s. If Flacco was playing the NFL right now…it wouldn’t be a different story. Definitely one hit wonder

Shockingly, he's still active, #2 to Zach Wilson in NYJ...

He needs to retire so that his name stops popping up on "active SB winning QB" lists, and screwing up those discussions

Good call on AJ - those three games he missed, Tannehill's passer ratings were 60.2, 81.5 and 68.9. AJ comes back and the next three games to close out the season are 106.8, 127.1 and 138.9.

With/without Henry not as much impact.

Flacco was pretty subpar for a couple of seasons before Lamar was drafted. Willis is also more raw than Lamar coming out. You could see history repeating in Tennessee (or Atlanta) in this draft but specifically with the Titans I think they'd give Tannehill at least one more year. It seems like even in off years that Tennessee seems to win 9 games or so and that should be enough for Tannehill to chase off a late round rookie for at least a year.

Yikes.

Who is his backup, again?
Hassan Haskins or Dontrell Hillard, won't want to have to count on either being much help if Henry goes down. However barring a injury Henry should still be king.
