If Goff can take a page out of Hoyer's playbook and force the ball to Watkins, Watkins could have his biggest season yet. Targets=fantasy production.
if hes the Z receiver and not the y

Watkins is a redzone target? Let's find out the truth

2016, 8 games played, 4 targets inside the 20.
2015, 13 games played, 6 targets inside the 20
2014, 16 games played, 10 targets inside the 20

I think not

Btw, each one of those years, there was at least one Bills skill position player who had more
what did i tell you about logic

And I'm sure he had more long TD.

He's a threat because he can score from the opposite 1 yard line. I don't believe Goff has a deep ball like Taylor.

Still, there are only two things stopping Sammy from being a legit WR1. His foot and his hip.

He was on pace for four TDs. Lol.

I think volume of catches and yards are huge in fantasy. TDs are not something I focus on as much. Julio Jones...

Much harder to sustain big numbers there. If I think TDs up a receivers value, I try to trade them. A lot.

Like I said, he wasnt remotely healthy at any point last year. What pace he was on while playing visibly hurt (in need of surgery) isnt really all that relevant to his talent IMO.

Volume of catches are fine. But a receiver with 80 catches for 1000 yards and 10 TDs isnt necessarily better than one with 50 catches for 1000 yards and 10 TDs.

I second this too. Touches are the ultimate measure of value. No matter the potential, you can't score without the ball.

Sort of. They measure the way a player is used too. Take Jarvis Landry vs DJax. Landry has had seasons with way more catches than DJax but has never touched DJax's levels of TDs and yards. And ultimately for a team - yards and TDs matter a lot more. Touches dont actually provide anything until they actually lead to yards or TDs.

No, he isn't. But his scoring will most likely be much more consistent.

TDs are a crap shoot at times. Consistent pass catchers and ball carriers win out for me over home run hitters.

First downs...

53 -35 Landry in 2016
61-15 Landry in 2015
52-37 Landry in 2014.

More important than yards.

Sure and if youre playing ppr this is a whole nother story, I just meant pure talent wise ignoring fantasy points

It's regardless of PPR imo.

(Standard scoring sucks. Crapshoot vulture TDs are given too much value.)

I do like first downs but I dont know about being more important than yards.

If jackson catches a 50 yard TD on his drive and Landry converts three 3rd downs with 8 yard catches...DJax is providing a lot more value even though Landry has 3 times as many 1st downs.

Regardless...My pro Sammy point was simply about his place as an NFL receiver not as a fantasy receiver (though Im also pretty bullish on him there).

On that one drive, maybe.

Landry is the superior player by a good margin. Jackson has averaged one more tD per season since Landry came into the league. Not nearly enough to outweigh the other areas.

I strongly disagree with that.

Since Landry came into the league hes averaged 63.6 ypg and .27 TD per game.

In that stretch Jackson has averaged 67.6 ypg and .35 TD per game.

Context: Jackson was in better passing offenses (2 of the 3 years) but also had to share targets with a large group of talented pass catchers which Landry didnt have to deal with.

Also worth noting tha DJax forces defenses to account for him. He completely changes the way teams have to defend. Landry doesnt really do that. Landry is a fine player but hes not nearly as good as Jackson.

Landry had 5 TDs last year. He's a slot receiver, not a outside one.

Below average QBs forced the ball to players like Hopkins and Gordon recently. Sometimes a receiver makes a qb look better than he is. Ironically, Hoyer was QB for both those teams those two years but he wasn't really targeting Gordon before he got hurt. Weeden, and later Campbell, were. Hoyer himself was in a QB quandary in 2015 and there were other players forcing the ball to Hopkins the last two years. The only player who didn't do it was Osweiller.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

The Landry v DJax debate is fascinating. Hope it keeps going.

I personally like Landry. The guy hasn't missed a game and while maybe not elite, he is a consistent target.
Stats between both are close.
But Landry averages 6 receptions a game. Whereas Jackson averages less at 3.5 receptions.

That tells me Jackson relies on the deep ball more than Landry.
I'm a conservative FF guy so Landry's consistency is more appealing to the boom or bust of Jackson.
