Fans Of Other Teams Extremely Nervous Of Our Team

been reading a lot of new stories here online about how RG3 is looking extremely explosive and nobody can cover Reed and a few other articles and all I see is fans posting at the bottom trying to belittle our team trying to make themselves feel better because they know the Redskins will have a very dangerous offense this year it's extremely funny if you ask me lol

all i am saying is this sounds an awful much like counting the chickens before they hatch

we have a new HC a new Oc and DC with a mediocre history who may have been handcuffed . we have a very suspect special teams unit

we shouldnt expect to roll off 11 wins here after winning a mere 3 last season i say cautious optimism should be the order of the day

As being a loyal Skins fans since i was born in 85', I'm with Skinsdad on this one. It's been years when we thought we was at least a playoff team and had to sit back and watch as we got our arses handed to us game after game. Then it has been years when we cam ein with low expectations and we've won our division. I just think that we need to honestly shut the f*** up and just let our play do the talking instead of every week we come up with a different story about how this player is "unstoppable" or RG3 looks explosive and will have the comeback player of the year award. Let's just stay focused and work on all 3 phases of the game and try to be competitive in all 16 games.

that is exactly what I was thinking.

Truth is, most teams are dismissing us, with pretty good reason given 3 wins and the dysfunction last year. I just hope we surprise everyone, even ourselves at our most optimistic.

But for me, anything over 6 wins will be gravy and a good year after the circus we all saw last year.

I'm extra nervous in that I'm on record for 9 wins! That's partially due to I see our division as very weak, partially due to the belief that last year was an absolute cluster fuck of issues and partially due to I'm a homer and just want to believe. Don't think I can stomach another 4-6 win season and cellar dweller status.

Well, there is some valid reason for optimism, but realistically we have a new coach, new offensive scheme being implemented, new receivers that need to gel together with Griff. Not to mention Griffs play itself. What are we going to see? Nothing obvious at this point as super upgrade on the Oline, tho some possibilities of people that could beef it up and step in. That's a lot that needs to gel on Offense to be super successful. but if it did, it could be poetry for sure.

Our D is still a big old question mark in my mind, given we still have Hazmat leading the brigade. But like Shark said somewhere, sometimes it's not a bad idea NOT to change the entire coaching staff. Hope he does well but remain very cautiously optimistic regarding him.

Who knows WHAT the truth was last year regarding Haz, but there are some promising signs. Pass rush should improve and we've finally got back from injury some players who may (or may not) impact effectiveness in our secondary as well as some old time leadership from the likes of Clark. While London had slipped a notch, there's no telling the impact of the LOSS of his presence in the locker room, so who knows whether Keenan or whoever can step in, stay healthy and be as smart playing Mike. If we can be middle of the pack D in the league, I'd consider it a huge Win for next year.

As to STs last year.... Could anything have been more miserable to witness as a skins fan? That's what lack of team depth and a 36million cap penalty will net you. As a few have mentioned, you could probably attribute a minimum of 3 losses entirely to our historically bad play and the terrible field position we gave up, putting our D in the worst possible position. Kotwica seems legit from everything coming out of Redskins Park. We can hardly NOT improve here. Actually, I think this is where we'll see the biggest jump in improvement from last year myself.

So for me, I'm hoping a split in division games and a minimum of 3 wins outside the division. Just feels realistic, even tho the homer in me can reasonably see 8-9 wins, given health and a coalescing of lots of moving parts in the 3 phases of the game.

Sounds a lot like the scenario in Houston. New HC, OC, DC. 2012 playoff team turned into 2013 disaster.

Agree. Will also be interesting to see the national media take after this game. Will it be that the winning team is a contender again or just that the losing team is still that bad. Given the current state of the media it will probably be the latter.

Typical: Almost everyone who predicts wins and losses for their respective teams, do so by looking at the schedule and determining outcomes based on the previous season.


Problem: Consistency, it is rare to find seasons where the also-rans repeat previous performance. In this instance 3-13.


Reality: Self inflicted wounds, anyone counting on a win vs. Washington based on last year make themselves anxious because the logic doesn't hold. Even if DC ends this season at 3-13 again, their wins won't be against the same 3. Anything more than 3 wins makes their predictive value more worrisome. If others are extremely nervous.........GOOD.........They've done it to themselves.
