What could have been .....

13 penalties for 108 for Washington to 4 penalties for 25 yards for Atlanta

There are several instances where penalty calls hurt Washington

I am thinking of Sandristil being offside on a FG attempt and Fowler commiting a roughing the QB call which led to an Atlanta TD.

Cosmi commits a holding penalty inside the 10 (this one was a hold) Redskins ended up kicking a FG instead of taking an 11 point lead

There were many other drives derailed due to holding calls.

Hell the game winning TD drive started on a false start.

Some were blaming the pass rush and CBs. The run defense was again an isuue. Especially in the 1st half. Bijan was shredding the defense. Penix missed many wide open receivers or it could have been worse.

Jayden, OZ and Ertz put Washington on their backs. Two drives that took most of the quarter put Washington ahead. The first one aided by Atlanta's worst penalty which gave Washington a 1st down when they had 3rd and a mile.

Atlanta (Raheem & the OC) went pass happy in the 3rd quarter aided by Penix 54% completion in this game. Never look a gift horse in the mouth .... what happened to Bijan. Why did Atlanta abandon the run? Give credit to Penix for the game tying drive. But otherwise he missed so many open receivers.

Enter the three amigos ... 5, 14 and 86 who let the team on a long drive in OT for the touchdown.

What happened to Frankie Luvu (1 tackle) and McLaurin (1 catch for 5 yards)

The best defense by Washington was in the 2nd half where they dominated the time of possession and scoring which was the best defense all night ..... letting the D watch from the sidelines.

Yep, our best defense is our offense.

It is not a hold and referees should not call what they do not see Simply because it looks like it may have been. Referees need to get fined for that kind of thing, or fired.

Fined and retraining I can see, but not firing unless it becomes habitual post retraining.

I said on the General board too. The falcons got JD’d. The redskins defense sucked, way too many penalties, and we’re out classed in the trenches on both sides. I will however give the whole team credit for the fight. JD just refuses to lose

They moved Payne to DE and put Holmes in on the other side with Allen and Newton in the middle.

I thought Ferrell was brought here to be a run stopper, that has failed. Armstrong was supposed to provide pass rush that has been iffy all year. I guess the team likes Holmes and could take Ferrell spot next year.

We can get off of Armstrong if we really wanted to without much dead cap. He did have a sack Sunday though. Holmes imo will be fighting for a roster spot next year. I expect major upgrades at DE.

For the record....I do not think the Falcons should fire Morris in year one because he had a brain fart. Lol. Probably cost them a playoff spot, but if they are going to fire Morris over that, I'd have to question the hire in the first place.

Additionally, that would be a major red flag for other potential coaches.
